The 2016–17 Newcastle Jets FC season was the club's 16th season since its establishment in 2000. The club participated in the A-League for the 12th time and the FFA Cup for the third time. Newcastle United Jets Football Club, commonly known as Newcastle Jets, is an Australian professional Association football, soccer club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. It competes in the country's premier competition, the A-League, under Professional sports league organization#Systems around the world, licence from the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) (formerly under licence from Football Australia). The club was formed in 2000 when it joined the National Soccer League (NSL) and was one of only three former NSL clubs to join in the formation of the A-League. Daniel Mullen
Daniel John Mullen (born 26 October 1989) is an Australian soccer player who plays for Campbelltown City. He played as a centre back and a right back. Daniel is the cousin of Matthew Mullen and son of Joe Mullen, a former Socceroo. Club career Adelaide United Mullen joined United for the 2008–09 A-League season. On 26 July 2008 he made his debut for Adelaide United in a 0–0 against Newcastle Jets in the Pre-Season Cup. He has since gone on to win a place in the team in the league and also featured against Kashima Antlers in the AFC Champions League. He played in Adelaide's Champions league semi final's 1st leg 3–0 victory over Uzbekistan outfit Bunyodkor and was surely the best game in his short career. Ma Leilei
Ma Leilei ( zh, s=马磊磊, t=馬磊磊, p=Mǎ Lěilěi; born March 22, 1989, in Tianjin) is a Chinese former footballer who last played for Newcastle Jets in the A-League. Club career Ma Leilei joined top tier side Tianjin Teda F.C. in July 2008 and would make his debut for the club on September 21, 2008, in a league game against Shanghai Shenhua in a 1–1 draw where he came on as a substitute. After that game Ma would start to become a regular within the side and would go on to score his first two senior level goals in a 2009 AFC Champions League game on May 5, 2009, against Kawasaki Frontale in a 3–1 victory. After that game he was soon touted as the successor of club legend and former Chinese international Yu Genwei. Nicholas Chad Cowburn (born 7 March 1995) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a Midfielder (association football) for Newcastle Croatia FC. Ivan Vujica (; born 20 April 1997) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a left-back. He has represented Croatia at youth level, being capped once for their under-19 side, and has represented Australia at youth level, being capped for their under-23 side. Labinot Haliti (born 26 October 1985) is a former professional soccer player who played as a second striker or winger. Born in Yugoslavia, he represented Australia at youth level. Wayne Jonathan Brown (born 6 August 1988) is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder. He is a Fulham FC academy graduate starting at the club from 13 to 21 years old, making his way up through the ranks to the first team and to the Premier League.
