2016–17 BIC Basket
The 2016–17 BIC Basket (39th edition), Angola's top tier basketball club competition, ran from November 15, 2016 through May 25, 2017. It consists of four stages plus the playoffs. At the initial stage (regular season) all nine teams played each other in a double round robin system. In stage 2 (group stage), the top five teams from the regular season played in a single round robin in each group. In stage 3 (qualification stage), the top five teams from group stage 1 played in a round robin in group A whereas the four teams in group B plus the relegated team from group A played round robin classification matches in group B. In stage 4 (playoffs), a best-of-five series will be played between first-seeded vs eighth-seeded, 4th vs 5th, 2nd vs 7th and 3rd vs 6th. The winners of the first and second match-up and of the third and fourth will play a best-of-five semifinal playoff whereas the losers will play a best-of-three 5th-8th classification round. BIC Basket
The Angolan Men's Basketball League, (in Portuguese: ''Campeonato Nacional de Basquetebol em Séniores Masculinos''), for sponsorship reasons known as the Unitel Basket, is the top tier men's basketball league in Angola. C.D. Primeiro de Agosto (basketball), Primeiro de Agosto has been the most successful club in Angola with a total of 19 titles won, followed by Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda who have 17 championships. Gerson Henriques Gonçalves (born 29 March 1996), also known as Lukeny, is an Angolan basketball player for AMSB of the French LNB Pro B. He played nine seasons for Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League, where he was a two-time league MVP winner (2019 and 2022) and a BAL champion in 2024. Professional career Angola Gonçalves played for Petro de Luanda in the 2015 FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup. He participated in the 2018–19 Africa Basketball League where he averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Reginal Dennis Benjamin Moore (March 31, 1981 – June 12, 2023) was an American-born Angolan basketball player. A power forward, attended from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 2001-2003. He played in Norway, United States Basketball League (USBL; under coach John Starks), Germany, and Portugal. He has a daughter, Makayla Moore who is a university student and lives in Texas. He has a son named Maverick that lives in Angola. In 2012, Moore was granted Angolan citizenship, thus being eligible to play for the Angolan national squad. He is only the second U.S. citizen in the history of the country's existence to ever be granted Angolan nationality. Moore died in Luanda on June 12, 2023, at the age of 42. Je'Kel Reshard Foster (born July 22, 1983) is an American professional basketball player for Benfica do Libolo of the BIC Basket. College Foster began his studies at Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas. Andre "Dre" Harris is an American songwriter and record producer. Biography Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Harris grew up in a city known for its contributions to Black American music, namely the sub-genre of Philly soul.
