The 2016 Toray Pan Pacific Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 33rd edition of the Pan Pacific Open, and part of the Premier Series of the 2016 WTA Tour. WTA Premier Tournaments
WTA Premier tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. In 2020, Premier events included: * Four "Premier Mandatory" events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing with prize money of $4.5 million. * Five "Premier 5" events in Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto/Montreal, and Wuhan with prize money of $2 million. * Twelve "Premier" events with prize money of $600,000 to $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are: * "Premier Mandatory" 1000 * "Premier 5" 900 and * "Premier" 470. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam Tournament ("major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, and 280 for winning an WTA International tournaments, International tournament. Anastasia Sergeyevna "Nastia" Pavlyuchenkova (; born 3 July 1991) is a Russian professional tennis player. She reached a career-high singles WTA rankings, ranking of world No. 11 on 8 November 2021. Pavlyuchenkova has won twelve singles titles on the WTA Tour, and contested a Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major final at the 2021 French Open – Women's singles, 2021 French Open. Anastasija Sevastova (born 13 April 1990) is a Latvian professional tennis player. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 in October 2018, after reaching a Premier Mandatory final at the China Open. Madison Brengle
Madison Brengle (born April 3, 1990) is an inactive American tennis player. Her biggest success came in early 2015 when she reached her first WTA Tour final in January, followed by a fourth round major event appearance at the Australian Open. In May of that year, she reached her career-high singles ranking of No. 35. Brengle has won two singles titles and one doubles title on the WTA Challenger Tour, and 19 singles and seven doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. In August 2007, she was ranked fourth in the world in juniors. Brengle then toiled for years in the ITF Circuit. Varatchaya "Pias" Wongteanchai (; born 7 September 1989) is a former professional tennis player from Thailand. In her career, she won two doubles titles on the WTA Tour, with four singles titles and 31 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit.
