TCR Europe Touring Car Series
The TCR Europe Touring Car Series is an annual touring car racing event that is held at various locations across Europe. The series is run in accordance with the TCR Touring Car regulations with production-based cars that are front-wheel drive and powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged engines. History On 15 October 2015, Marcello Lotti revealed plans for a European Series including one round from each TCR European championship (Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Russia and Benelux), starting from 2016. On 26 February 2016, the European Trophy was launched, with six rounds (Spanish championship was excluded for not having an own series and Benelux series had two rounds). The 2016 TCR Benelux Touring Car Championship is the first season of the TCR Benelux Touring Car Championship. The season started on 21 May at Spa-Francorchamps and ended on 30 October at Mettet. Each round includes five races: a 60-minute-long qualifying race with a mandatory driver change, and four 20-minute-long sprint races. The starting grid for the qualifying race is established by a popular vote via Facebook, through the ''Making the Grid'' application. Race 1 uses the fastest lap of after the pit stop during the qualifying race to determine the starting grid. Race 3 uses the fastest lap of before the pit stop during qualifying race. Pierre-Yves Corthals
Pierre-Yves Corthals (born 23 October 1975 in Liège) is a Belgian auto racing driver. Career After competing in karting, Corthals began racing in the Belgian Renault Clio Cup in 1994, which he went on to win for three consecutive years between 1995 and 1997, and won it again in 2000 and 2004. He won the International Clio Cup in 2001, ahead of Alessandro Balzan and Jeroen Bleekemolen. In 2001 he competed in two rounds of the European Touring Car Championship, once for BMW Team RBM at Donington Park, and once for Carly Motorsport at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, finishing the first race in sixth place. Corthals began competing in the World Touring Car Championship in 2006, for JAS Motorsport in a Honda Accord, finishing seventh in the Independents' Trophy. Heusden-Zolder (; li, Heuze-Zolder ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg near Hasselt. On 1 January 2006 Heusden-Zolder had a total population of 30,769. The total area is 53.23 km² which gives a population density of 578 inhabitants per km². Heusden-Zolder was the result of the merger on 1 January 1977 of the two former municipalities of Heusden and Zolder, and currently consists of the former Heusden parishes of Heusden centre, Berkenbos and Eversel, and the former Zolder parishes of Zolder centre, Boekt, Viversel, Bolderberg and Lindeman. Circuit Zolder
The Circuit Zolder, also known as Circuit Terlamen, is an undulating motorsport race track in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. History Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1980 Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix. F1 moved to Zolder in 1973 and with the exception of a race at Nivelles-Baulers in 1974, Zolder was the location of the Belgian Grand Prix until 1982. That year, Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve was killed during qualifying at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve's Ferrari 126C2 collided at speed with the March 821 of Jochen Mass. The Ferrari was torn up in the accident and when rolling, Villeneuve was thrown from the car. After Villeneuve's death, the Belgian Grand Prix was held at Spa-Francorchamps in 1983, before returning to Zolder one final time in 1984. The 2016 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship was the first season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to newly created TCR regulations. The series ran predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship also took in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria and the Netherlands. The 2016 ADAC Formula 4 season was the second season of the ADAC Formula 4. It began on 16 April at Oschersleben and finished on 2 October at Hockenheim after seven triple header rounds. Teams and drivers Race calendar All rounds were part of the ADAC GT Masters weekends, with the exception of round 4 which supported the TCR International Series. Championship standings Points were awarded to the top 10 classified finishers in each race. No points were awarded for pole position or fastest lap. The 2016 ADAC GT Masters was the tenth season of the ADAC GT Masters, the grand tourer-style sports car racing founded by the German automobile club ADAC. The season started on 15 April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben and ended on 2 October at Hockenheim after seven double-header meetings. Antti Buri (born 2 December 1988) is a Finnish racing driver currently TCR Italian Series champion. Having previously competed in the ADAC TCR Germany Blancpain Endurance Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany & International GTSprint Series amongst others. Racing career Buri began his career in 2007 in Finnish Formula Ford Zetec, he raced there for many seasons up until 2009, also racing in the Formula Ford NEZ at the time. In 2009 he switched to the British Formula Ford Championship, he raced there up until 2012 and won the championship title that year. He switched to the Finnish Formula Ford Junior for 2010, taking the championship title in both 2010 & 2011. He made a couple of one-off appearances in the Benelux Formula Ford, ADAC Formel Masters & Portuguese GT Championship from 2011-13.
