2016 Iraqi Super Cup
The 2016 Iraqi Super Cup was meant to be the 8th Iraqi Super Cup and the first edition after it was discontinued in 2002. The Super Cup is an annual Iraqi football match played between the winners of the previous season's Iraqi Premier League and Iraq FA Cup. The match was meant to be contested by 2015–16 Iraq FA Cup winners Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, and Al-Zawraa, champions of the 2015–16 Iraqi Premier League. It was originally meant to be held at Al-Shaab Stadium on 22 August 2016, almost a month before the start of the league season kicked off. However, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya's matches in the 2016 AFC Cup and Iraq's matches in FIFA World Cup qualifying clashed with this date so the game was postponed to 10 September. Al-Zawra'a SC
Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Al-Zawraa have won the domestic double a record eight times and became only the second Iraqi team to win the domestic quadruple in the 1999–2000 season. 2016–17 Iraqi Premier League
The 2016–17 Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز 2016–17) was the 43rd season of the Iraqi Premier League, the highest division for Iraqi association football clubs, since its establishment in 1974. The season started on 15 September 2016, and ended on 10 August 2017. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya won their sixth Premier League title, finishing four points ahead of second-placed Al-Naft and losing just one game throughout the campaign. It was the club's first league title since the 2004–05 season, and their manager Basim Qasim became the first manager to win titles in two consecutive seasons with two different teams. Humam Tariq Faraj Naoush ( ar, همام طارق فرج نعوش; born 10 February 1994 in Baghdad) is an Iraqi professional footballer who plays for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and the Iraq national team as winger. He also played for Esteghlal F.C. between 2018 and 2019. Tariq has long been considered one of Iraq's most talented footballers. He has represented Iraq at Under-19, Under-20, Under-22, Under-23 and full international level, making his debut for the national team at the age of 16, making him the youngest Iraqi in history to represent the senior team. 2016 Iraq FA Cup Final
The 2016 Iraq FA Cup Final was the 25th final of the Iraq FA Cup as a clubs-only competition. The match was contested between the Baghdad rivals, Al-Zawraa and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, at Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad. It was played on 29 May 2016 to be the final match of the competition. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya made their 7th appearance in the Iraq FA Cup final while Al-Zawraa extended their record to 16 final appearances. The 2016 AFC Cup was the 13th edition of the AFC Cup, Asia's secondary club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ( ar, نادي القوة الجوية الرياضي, lit=Air Force Club) is an Iraqi sports club based in Rusafa District, Baghdad that competes in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football.
