Heute
''heute'' (; German for ''today'') is a television news program on the German channel ZDF. The main program is broadcast at 19:00, and includes news, with an emphasis on political news from Germany, Europe and the world, plus 'mixed' news from cultural life or entertainment, and the sports news with an extra presenter. The weather forecast comes up at about 19:22 after a break with commercials. For many years, the opening sequence of each broadcast featured an analogue clock, a signature element of the program. On July 19, 2021; the opening sequence switched to a digital clock along with updated graphics and music, along with a new anchor desk and set. The newscast ''heute'' of ZDF and the 20:00- ''Tagesschau'' of Das Erste are the main broadcasts of German public TV starting the evening programme. RTLup
RTLup (formerly RTLplus) is a German free-to-air television channel of the RTL Group, which is mainly aimed at female viewers aged 45 and over. Its schedule consists largely of documentary soaps and court shows. The channel was renamed to RTLup on 15 September 2021 as part of a larger rebranding of all RTL channels. RTL International
RTL International was a German-speaking pay-TV channel of RTL Group targeted the global community of German-speaking viewers and tourists with selected programmes from domestic TV channels RTL Television, VOX, RTL Nitro and n-tv. The channel broadcast in non-European countries from January 18, 2016, to May 31, 2017. RTL International replaced RTL Television's previous offer in Southern Africa and Israel and also broadcast for the first time in Australia, Georgia, Canada and the USA. RTL Group announced on 15 February 2017 that the broadcasting operation will be discontinued as of 31 May 2017. RTL stated that piracy of its content through streaming platforms such as Kodi was to blame, though it had also been offered in extra-cost "German tiers" of some pay-TV providers alone, pricing out viewers from its content. Big Brother Germany
''Big Brother'' is the German version of the international reality television franchise '' Big Brother'' created by producer John de Mol Jr. in 1997. Following the premise of other versions of the format, the show followed a number of contestants, known as housemates, who are isolated from the outside world for an extended period of time in a custom-built house. Each week, one of the housemates is evicted by a public vote, with the last housemate remaining winning a cash prize. ''Big Brother'' premiered on 28 February 2000 and ran for eleven seasons on RTL Zwei (formerly spelled RTL 2 and RTL II) before the network cancelled it in September 2011. ''Big Brother'' returned on 22 September 2015 on sixx, and lasted for one season. After a 5-year break, Sat.1 rebooted the series on 10 February 2020. The Voice Of Germany
''The Voice of Germany'' is a German reality television, reality talent show created by John de Mol, based on the concept ''The Voice of Holland'' and its The Voice (franchise), international series. It began airing on ProSieben and Sat.1 on 24 November 2011. There are five different stages to the show: producers' auditions, blind auditions, battle rounds, sing offs, and live shows. There have been fourteen winners to date: Ivy Quainoo, Nick Howard, Andreas Kümmert, Charley Ann Schmutzler, Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, Tay Schmedtmann, Natia Todua, Samuel Rösch, Claudia Emmanuela Santoso, Paula Dalla Corte, Sebastian Krenz, Anny Ogrezeanu, Malou Lovis Kreyelkamp, and the latest Jennifer Lynn. The show was originally presented by Stefan Gödde. Since 2012, Thore Schölermann has presented the show. From 2015 until 2021, Schölermann hosted the show together with Lena Gercke. ''Das Supertalent'' (''Germany's Got Talent'', ''Got Talent Germany)'' is a German talent show, part of the internationally successful ''Got Talent franchise'', presented by Victoria Swarovski and Knossi. Just like in all other versions of the franchise, auditions take place and the judges review their talent and then later the home audience votes in an election to deem who wins. The prize money is €50,000. Seasons Season 1 (2007) Season one was presented by Marco Schreyl (also the host of ''Deutschland sucht den Superstar'' – the German version of ''Pop Idol''). The first episode premiered on 20 October 2007 on RTL and ended on 3 November 2007. The auditions took place in Cologne, Hamburg, Oldenburg, and Munich and around 5000 people applied for the three-part show. Wer Wird Millionär? (German Game Show)
''Wer wird Millionär?'' is a German game show based on the original British format of ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?''. It is shown on RTL on Mondays and Fridays at 20:15 (CET/ CEST). It is hosted by Günther Jauch. The show has been broadcast from 3 September 1999 until today. The main goal of the show is to win €1 million (previously 1 million DM) by answering 15 multiple-choice questions correctly. If contestants get the fifth question correct, they will leave with at least €500. If they get the tenth question correct, they will leave with at least €16,000, unless they enabled the fourth 'lifeline' (added in 2007). Contestants from outside Germany are able to participate if they speak German, with contestants from Austria and Switzerland among previous participants. (''In all friendship'') is a German television soap opera that began airing in 1998 every Tuesday. The series follows the staff of the fictional Sachsenklinik hospital in the city of Leipzig. The series is produced by Degeto (a subsidiary of the German TV channel ARD) and by Saxonia Media Filmproduktion GmbH in the studios of Media City Leipzig. The first broadcast was on 26 October 1998. Since then, approximately 600 episodes have aired. Initially, the focus was on three main characters and their friendship ''Dr. Roland Heilmann'', ''Dr. Achim Kreutzer'', and ''Dr. Maia Dietz''. Nowadays, there is a growing cast of 15–20 characters which the plot follows (of the original trio, only ''Dr. Roland Heilmann'' can still be seen in the program). Schloss Einstein
''Schloss Einstein'' is a long-running, popular German television series which is designed as a teenage soap opera. It portrays the lives of teenagers in Schloss Einstein (Castle Einstein), a fictional boarding school. The intended audience is 10- to 14-year-olds. The series combines the genres of comedy, Action genre, action, drama (e.g., first love, problems with parents and schoolmates), and natural science. Scripts for the series are written by prominent television script writers. Current air times New episodes of ''Schloss Einstein'' are currently shown on Mondays at 8:10 p.m. on channel KiKA. Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten
''Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten'' ("Good Times, Bad Times"), often abbreviated ''GZSZ'', is a long-running German television soap opera, first broadcast on RTL Television, RTL in 1992. The programme concerns the lives of a fictional neighborhood in Germany's capital city Berlin. Over the years the soap opera tends to have an overhaul of young people in their late teens and early twenties, targeting a young viewership. Based on the Australian format ''The Restless Years'', which first was successfully adapted in the Netherlands as ''Goede tijden, slechte tijden'', the German version took the scripts of the first 230 episodes, even though heavily rewritten, from the original. After the first year, ''Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten'' started using original material. The programme started off with low ratings and was panned by critics.
