The 2016 Hong Kong Tennis Open (also known as the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open for sponsorship reasons) was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the seventh edition of the tournament, and part of the 2016 WTA Tour. It took place in Victoria Park, Hong Kong, from October 10 to 16. WTA International Tournaments
The WTA International Tournaments was a category for professional tennis tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association from the 2009 WTA Tour until 2020, which replaced the previous Tier III and Tier IV categories. The winner of a WTA International adds 280 points to her WTA ranking. Yanina Wickmayer (born 20 October 1989) is a Belgian professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals at the 2009 US Open, and a career-high WTA ranking of world No. 12, on 19 April 2010. In doubles, she achieved a career-high of world No. 71 on 15 February 2010. She was awarded "Most Improved Player" by the WTA in 2009. Mariana Duque Mariño (; born 12 August 1989) is a Colombian retired tennis player. Having turned professional in 2005, she reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 66 in October 2015.
