2016 Edmonton Eskimos Season
The Edmonton Eskimos season was the 59th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 68th overall. The Eskimos finished in fourth place in the Canadian Football League West Division, West Division with a 10–8 record, and qualified for the playoffs via the "crossover" rule. The Eskimos attempted to repeat as Grey Cup champions. This was the first season under head coach Jason Maas and fourth under general manager Ed Hervey. The Eskimos qualified for the playoffs for the third straight season following losses by the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes during their week 17 Bye (sports), bye. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. With a few exceptions, a senior men's football championship has been contested in Western Canada since 1911, and with a few additional exceptions the Western champion has played the Eastern champion for the Grey Cup. Although its teams have been members of the CFL since 1958, the then-Western Football Conference remained a distinct legal entity until 1981. Manitoba Bisons
The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays at Princess Auto Stadium, the soccer team plays at the outdoor soccer field on campus, track and field teams use University Stadium (Winnipeg), University Stadium, and the volleyball and basketball teams play at Investors Group Athletic Centre. DJ Lalama
D. J. Lalama (born July 21, 1993) is a former professional Canadian football linebacker and is the linebackers coach for the Manitoba Bisons football team of U Sports. University career Lalama began his CIS football career with the Western Mustangs in 2011, but did not play and used a redshirt year. Following the departure of coach Mickey Donovan, he transferred to the Manitoba Bisons program, playing in one game in 2012 before suffering a season ending injury. He played his first full university season in 2013 and played three years en route to being drafted into the Canadian Football League in 2016. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and typically line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and so back up the defensive linemen. Doug Parrish
Doug Parrish, Jr. (born July 24, 1992) is a Canadian former professional football linebacker who played for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Parrish attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco, California. There he played wide receiver, running back, cornerback, safety and outside linebacker. As a senior, caught 41 passes for 755 yards and eight touchdowns and averaged 7.1 yards per rush. He went on to become a first-team All-West Catholic Athletic League and second-team All-Metro pick by the San Francisco Chronicle and his team's Most Valuable Player. The Queen's Gaels (also known as the Queen's Golden Gaels) is the athletics program representing Queen's University at Kingston, Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Western Ontario Mustangs
The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams.
