2016 Diamond Challenge
The 2016 Diamond Challenge was the fourth Diamond Challenge netball series. It featured South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe and a Netball South Africa President's XII. The series was played in October 2016 at the Westville Campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. With a team coached by Norma Plummer and captained by Bongiwe Msomi, South Africa won the series. South Africa finished the series undefeated, winning all four matches. In the final they defeated Zimbabwe 68–34. Zimbabwe, 21st in the World Netball Rankings, qualified for the final and caused an upset when they beat Uganda, ranked 8th, 42–39 in their final group stage match. Perpetua Siyachitema
Perpetua Siyachitema (born 15 May 1983) is a former Zimbabwean veteran netball player and captain of the Zimbabwe national team. She had played for Zimbabwe in international arena for 15 years and announced her retirement post the 2019 Netball World Cup. On 25 July 2019, she announced her retirement from international netball at the age of 36 to pursue her coaching career. She is known for her efforts to help Zimbabwe qualify at the Netball World Cup for the first time in 2019. Career Perpetua started playing the sport of netball from sixteen years of age and made her international debut for Zimbabwe at the age of 19. She had been a regular permanent member of the Zimbabwean team for nearly fifteen years since her debut and led the side since 2011. Renske Stoltz
Renske Stoltz is a South African netball player. Early life Stoltz was born in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga before shifting with her family to Rustenburg, North West. She has played netball for the past seventeen years and attended Hoërskool Rustenburg. Career Stoltz earned her first cap against New Zealand in the Netball Quad Series. She was also part of the under-19 Baby Proteas squad. She also participated in the Brutal Fruit Netball Cup for the North West Flames and represented her university in the local varsity championship. Lenize Potgieter
Lenize Potgieter (born 2 May 1994) is a South African professional netball player who currently plays for Manchester Thunder and the South African national team. Early life Potgieter was born in Polokwane, Limpopo before moving to Pretoria to pursue her high school career at Hoërskool Menlopark and further her studies and netball career. She has played netball for the past seventeen years. Career Lenize has represented her province of Limpopo at respective provincial netball tournaments. Precious Mthembu
Precious Mthembu (born 11 July 1984) is a former South Africa netball international and current netball coach. Mthembu made 97 senior appearances for South Africa. She represented South Africa at the 2007 and 2015 Netball World Cups and at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She captained South Africa at the 2011 All-Africa Games. Mthembu also played for Kingdom Stars in the Premier Netball League. She captained Stars between 2019 and 2021. Free State Crinums are a South African netball team based in Bloemfontein. Since 2014, they have represented the Free State in the Telkom Netball League. They were the inaugural league champions. Between 2014 and 2016, Crinums won three successive titles. In 2024, they won a fourth title. Karla Mostert
Karla Pretorius (née Mostert; born 12 March 1990) is a South African netball player, and has represented her country with the South Africa national netball team. She plays in the positions of Goal Defence (GD) and Wing Defence (WD). She previously played for the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Suncorp Super Netball competition. The Premier Netball League is the top level netball league featuring teams from South Africa. It was formed in 2014 and is organised by Netball South Africa. Between 2014 and 2018, due to sponsorship and naming rights arrangements, the league was known as the Brutal Fruit Netball Cup. Phumza Maweni
Phumza Maweni (born September 4, 1984) is a South African netball player in the Netball Superleague in the UK, representing Team Bath Netball. Maweni was raised in Cala, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. She went on to compete for the Kingdom Stars and Southern Stings in the South African Brutal Fruit Netball Cup and has also played several seasons in England's Netball Superleague, first for the Loughborough Lightning and later for the Severn Stars. Gauteng Jaguars are a netball in South Africa, South African netball team based at the University of Pretoria. Since 2014 in South Africa, 2014, together with Gauteng Golden Fireballs, they have represented Gauteng in the Telkom Netball League.
