2016 Chicago Fire Season
The 2016 Chicago Fire season was the club's 18th year of existence, as well as their 19th season in Major League Soccer and their 19th consecutive year in the top-flight of American soccer. On November 24, 2015 Veljko Paunović, coach of the 2015 World Cup champions Serbia U-20 team, was announced as the Chicago Fire's new head coach. Chicago Fire began the regular season on March 6, 2016, with a home match against New York City FC. The Men in Red finished the regular season on October 23, 2016, with an away match against Toronto FC. The club has missed the playoffs for the sixth time in the past seven years. The loss on the road to Vancouver Whitecaps on May 11, 2016, was the Fire's 28th straight match (19L, 9T) without a road win. Chicago Fire Soccer Club
Chicago Fire Football Club is an American professional soccer club based in Chicago. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Fire play their home games at Soldier Field, which they share with the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). The franchise, named in memory of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, was founded as the Chicago Fire Soccer Club on October 8, 1997, the Great Fire's 126th anniversary. 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup
The 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup was the twentieth edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The competition took place for the first time in New Zealand, the third time on Oceanian soil after Australia staged the 1981 FIFA World Youth Championship, 1981 and 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship, 1993 editions. Brandon Vincent (born May 1, 1994) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a defender for the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer. Vincent grew up playing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for Real So Cal. Matt Lampson (born September 6, 1989) is an American former Association football, soccer player who played as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Career Youth and college A team captain during his senior season, Lampson was the two-time MVP at St. Charles Preparatory School in 2006 and 2007, and was named to the 2007 All-Central Catholic League Team.
