The 2016 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup was the third season of the Asia Talent Cup. The season featured six rounds held at circuits in Asia, with three rounds held in support of the MotoGP World Championship and two rounds in support of the Superbike World Championship. Asia Talent Cup
The Asia Talent Cup is a motorcycle racing, motorcycle road racing competition intended for young riders in Asia and Oceania. Organized by Dorna Sports, the promoter of the international Grand Prix motorcycle racing and Superbike World Championship series, the ATC had its inaugural season in 2014 after being founded the year prior. The championship has run under the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup moniker with sponsorship from Idemitsu Kosan, Idemitsu since the 2017 season, having previously been contracted with Shell plc, Shell Advance between 2014 and 2016. Alberto Puig has served as Director of the Asia Talent Cup since its inception in 2014. Deniz Öncü (born 26 July 2003) is a Turkish motorcycle racer, currently competing in the Moto2 World Championship, for team Red Bull KTM Ajo. His twin brother, Can, is also a motorcycle racer. Mobility Resort Motegi (モビリティリゾートもてぎ) is a motorsport venue located in Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Originally Twin Ring Motegi (ツインリンクもてぎ), the venue's name came from the facility having two race tracks: a oval track and a road course. It was built in 1997 by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., as part of the company's effort to bring the Championship Auto Racing Teams series to Japan, helping to increase their knowledge of American open-wheel racing. Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) () is located at Jin Ding town in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. Motorsport started in Zhuhai when it hosted a race on its Zhuhai Street Circuit, street circuit in 1993. Racing continued there until 1996 when the motor racing circuit was constructed and became China's first permanent motor race track with Formula One in mind. Gerry Salim Laurens (born in Surabaya, 19 April 1997), is a motorcycle racer from Indonesia. Racing Career Gerry started his career in the mid-2000s.
