2016 Armed Forces Bowl
The 2016 Armed Forces Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game played on December 23, 2016, at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The fourteenth annual edition of the Armed Forces Bowl was one of the 2016–17 bowl games that concluded the 2016 FBS football season and was sponsored by aerospace and defense company Lockheed Martin; it was officially known as the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. Team selection The game featured the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs against the Navy Midshipmen. This was the third meeting between the schools, with Navy winning both previous ones. The most recent meeting was on September 18, 2010, where the Midshipmen defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 37–23. Armed Forces Bowl
The Armed Forces Bowl, formerly the Fort Worth Bowl from 2003 to 2005, is an annual postseason college football bowl game. First played in 2003, the game is normally held at the 45,000-seat Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The 2010 and 2011 editions were instead played at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in University Park, Texas, when Amon G. Carter Stadium underwent a reconstruction project. The game features teams from a variety of collegiate football conferences; in addition, the independent United States Military Academy (Army) is also eligible to participate. Since 2014, the game has been sponsored by Lockheed Martin and officially known as the ''Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl''. Malcolm Xiomar Perry (born April 19, 1997) is an officer in the United States Marine Corps and a former American football wide receiver. He attended the United States Naval Academy, where he played college football for the Navy Midshipmen football, Navy Midshipmen from 2016 to 2019. The son of United States Army personnel, Perry was a military brat who grew up in Tennessee. After high school and attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School, he joined the main campus and football team in 2016, where he played a variety of positions. Boston Scott (born April 27, 1995) is an American football running back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) and professional ''Rocket League'' esports player of Dignitas. Carlos Henderson (born December 19, 1994) is an American football wide receiver. He played college football at Louisiana Tech, and was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Early years Henderson attended McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He committed to Louisiana Tech University to play college football. 2010 Navy Midshipmen Football Team
The 2010 Navy Midshipmen football team represented the United States Naval Academy as an independent during the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Midshipmen, led by third-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo, played their home games at the Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy earned an invitation to the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl on November 7, becoming the second team in the Football Bowl Subdivision to earn a bowl berth for the 2010 season. Navy was guaranteed a spot in the game if they became bowl eligible (won 6 games or more) as part of an agreement between the Naval Academy and the Poinsettia Bowl. The 2016 Navy Midshipmen football team represented the United States Naval Academy in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Midshipmen were led by ninth-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo and played their home games at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen competed as a member of the West Division of the American Athletic Conference, and were second year members of the conference.
