2016 AFC Futsal Championship Qualification
The 2016 AFC Futsal Championship qualification was a men's futsal competition which decided the participating teams of the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship. A total of 16 teams qualified to play in the final tournament, including Japan national futsal team, Japan, Iran national futsal team, Iran, Uzbekistan national futsal team, Uzbekistan (hosts), who qualified directly as the top three finishers of the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship. Since third-placed Uzbekistan qualified automatically as hosts, Kuwait national futsal team, Kuwait, who finished fourth, would have also qualified as the next best-ranked team, but they were later replaced due to FIFA's suspension of the Kuwait Football Association. West Asian Football Federation
The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF; ar, اتحاد غرب آسيا لكرة القدم, Ittiḥād Gharb Āsiyā li-Kurat al-Qadam), founded in 2001, is an association of the football playing nations in Western Asia. Its founding members are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. In 2009, three more associations joined the federation: Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. Goal difference, goal differential or points difference is a form of tiebreaker used to rank sport teams which finish on equal points in a league competition. Three points for a win is a standard used in many sports leagues and group tournaments, especially in association football, in which three points are awarded to the team winning a match, with no points awarded to the losing team. 2015 AFF Futsal Championship
The 2015 AFF Futsal Championship was the 12th edition of the tournament which was held in Thailand from 8 to 16 October 2015. This edition will also act as a qualification tournament for the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship. A statement in June stated that Thailand and Australia were already assured of qualification to the 2016 AFC Championship, due to their positioning in the previous (2014) edition. This was later modified back so that those who reach the semi-finals shall qualify. Singapore participated at the tournament after a 13-year absence, last participating at the inaugural edition in 2001. Teams The tournament was originally set to be hosted by Indonesia but the country's national football association was suspended by FIFA, barring the country from both hosting and participating in the tournament.
