2015–16 Namibia Premier League
The 2015–16 Namibia Premier League is the 27th season of top-tier football in Namibia. The season started on 11 September 2014. United Africa Tigers, Tigers won their first championship since the league's first season in 1985, clinching the title with a week to go and finishing nine points ahead of runners up Black Africa S.C., Black Africa. United Stars F.C., United Stars, Julinho Sporting F.C., Julinho Sporting and Flamingos FC, Flamingo finished in the bottom three spots and will be relegated to the First Division for the 2016-2017 season. Teams A total of 16 teams contested the league. Touch & Go F.C., Rebels F.C. and Benfica F.C. were each relegated to First Division after finishing 14th, 15th and 16th, respectively. Namibia Premier League
The Namibia Premier League (NPL) was the highest level of domestic association football in Namibia until it was disbanded following the 2018-19 season. The league was established in 1990 and was trimmed to 12 teams from the traditional 16 in 2005. It was disbanded in 2020 after ongoing problems with the Namibia Football Association, which finally ended their relationship. The NFA founded the Namibia Football Premier League to replace it. The new league kicked off with the 2022-2023 season with African Stars against UNAM FC at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium. Zimbabwe Division 1 is the second tier of the Zimbabwe Football Association. 2016 CAF Champions League
The 2016 CAF Champions League (officially the 2016 Orange CAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons) was the 52nd edition of Africa's premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 20th edition under the current CAF Champions League format. Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Zamalek in the final to win their first CAF Champions League title, and qualified as the CAF representative at the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan, their first appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup, and also earned the right to play against the winners of the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup in the 2017 CAF Super Cup. Oshakati
Oshakati is a town in northern Namibia. It is the regional capital of the Oshana Region and one of Namibia's largest cities both by population and as an economic center. It had a population of 58,656 people in 2023. Oshakati was founded in July 1966 and proclaimed a town in 1992. Otjiwarongo
Otjiwarongo (Herero language, Herero for "beautiful place") is a city of 49,000 inhabitants in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. It is the district capital of the Otjiwarongo Constituency, Otjiwarongo electoral constituency and also the capital of Otjozondjupa. Otjiwarongo is situated in central-north Namibia on the TransNamib railway. It is the biggest business centre for Otjozondjupa Region. Rundu
Rundu is the capital and the largest city of the Kavango-East Region in northern Namibia. It lies on the border with Angola on the banks of the Kavango River, about above sea level. Rundu's population is growing rapidly. The 2001 census counted 36,964 inhabitants; and for the 2011 census it climbed to 63,430. History In 1936, it became the seat of the local governor replacing Nkurenkuru as the capital of the Kavango district. Since then it has grown into a multilingual city of the Kavango region. Rehoboth is a town in the Hardap Region of central Namibia, just north of the Tropic of Capricorn. It had a population of 40,788 people in 2023. Rehoboth is intersected from north to south by the national road B1, which also serves as the border of the two electoral constituencies in the town, Rehoboth Urban West and Rehoboth Urban East. Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay (; ; ) is a city in Namibia and the name of the bay on which it lies. It is the List of cities in Namibia, second largest city in Namibia and the largest coastal city in the country. The city covers an area of of land. The bay is a haven for sea vessels due to its natural deep-water harbour, protected by the Pelican Point sand spit, which is the only natural harbour of any size along the country's coast. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters also draw large numbers of southern right whales, attracting whalers and fishing vessels. Khomasdal Stadium
Khomasdal Stadium is a stadium in Khomasdal, a suburb of Windhoek, Namibia. It was originally constructed school sports, church activities and youth groups but has become the main stadium for a number of Namibia's top professional football clubs, including Orlando Pirates, tigers, Civics, African Stars and Black Africa. It became the home stadium of those clubs when Sam Nujoma Stadium, which is also in Katutura, underwent changes due to FIFA regulations.
