The 2015–16 Kazakhstan Basketball Championship () was the 24th season of the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship, the highest professional basketball league in Kazakhstan. Its official designation in full was: XXIVth basketball Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan for men's teams (National league) (). The regular season ran from 15 January to 3 April 2016. 5 teams played 16 games each, with 8 confrontations between every side. The playoffs ran from 13 April to 13 May 2016, BC Barsy Atyrau won their second consecutive title by beating BC Astana in the final. The 2014–15 Kazakhstan Basketball Championship () was the 23rd season of the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship, the highest professional basketball league in Kazakhstan. Its official designation in full was: XXIIth basketball Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan for men's teams (National league) (). The regular season ran from 8 October 2014 to 27 March 2015, May 9, 2004, 4 teams played 18 games each, with 6 confrontations between every side. The playoffs ran from 29 March 2015 to 10 April 2015, BC Astana won their fourth consecutive title by beating BC Almaty, Almatynski Legion in the final. Jerry Jamar Johnson (born April 23, 1982) is an American-born naturalised Kazakhstani professional basketball player who last played for Neptūnas Klaipėda of the Lithuanian Basketball League. Playing as a point guard, he played college basketball at Rider, earning a slew of personal awards. Since 2011 he has been playing for Astana in Kazakhstan, he later became a citizen of the country, playing for the national team. College career The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native played at J. P. Taldykorgan
Taldykorgan (, , ; ), formerly spelled Taldy-Kurgan until 1993, is the capital (called an administrative center) of Jetisu Region, Kazakhstan. According to the 2010 Kazakh Census, the population is 143,407. The town was founded in the 19th century as the village of Gavrilovka and developed into the present city on the same site. The town grew slowly in its early years. After the completion of the railway connection many Russian farmers moved to the area of the town. Dmitri Gavrilov
Dmitri Alexandrovich Gavrilov (; born 27 November 1986) is a Kazakhstani professional basketball player. He plays for BC Astana of the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship and the VTB United League. Professional career The Alma-Ata native started his career with home town side CSKA Almaty, staying there until 2008 when he was loaned to Barsy Atyrau. In June 2009 he joined the Astana Tigers, the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship title holders. He played with the side in the 2010 FIBA Asia Champions Cup, scoring 26 points (including 8 in overtime) to help the Kazakhstani's overcome Smart Gilas in the group stage. Patrick Sean Calathes (, born on December 12, 1985) is a Greek-American former professional basketball player. At a height of tall, he played at both the small forward and power forward positions. Anton Ponomarev (born 31 October 1988) is a Kazakhstani professional basketball player who last played for BC Astana. Professional career Astana Tigers Ponomarev was brought to the capital Astana by newly formed Astana Tigers in 2000, along with other Kostanay players such as Rustam Yargaliev. They lived in the Olympic reserve school with other athletes. Ponomarev started playing in the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship during the 2002-2003 season. At only 15, he already measured , the second tallest player in the country.
