2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships
The 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships were held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina from January 18–25, 2015. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies singles, pair skating, and ice dancing at the senior, junior, novice, intermediate and juvenile levels. The results were part of the U.S. selection criteria for the 2015 World Championships and 2015 Four Continents Championships. Qualifying events Competitors qualified at regional and sectional competitions held from October to November 2014 or earned a bye. At the end of November, U.S. Figure Skating published the list of skaters who had qualified for the U.S. Championships. 2014–15 Figure Skating Season
The 2014–15 figure skating season began on July 1, 2014, and ended on June 30, 2015. During this season, elite skaters competed at the 2015 European Championships, Four Continents Championships, World Junior Championships, and World Championships. They also competed at elite events such as the Grand Prix series and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating at the Grand Prix Final, and the inaugural Challenger Series. Beginning with this season, singles and pairs skaters were allowed to use music with lyrics in competition. Previously, they were restricted to instrumental music, including vocals without words. Additionally, the Challenger Series, a series of senior international competitions below the Grand Prix series, was introduced this season. The Pacific Coast Sectional Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. It is one of three sectional competitions, alongside the Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships and Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships. Skaters compete in five levels: Senior, Junior, Novice, Intermediate, and Juvenile. Medals are given out in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth). Stand-alone sectional competitions are held for men's singles and women's singles, but as of the 2022-23 season, not for ice dance or pairs.
