The 2015 The Jewish Home leadership election was held on 14 January 2015 to elect the leader of The Jewish Home party. The election took place in advance of the 2015 Israeli legislative election. Incumbent leader Naftali Bennett was handily reelected. The election coincided with the primaries that determined the party's 2015 legislative election party list. Background Bennett was first elected leader of The Jewish Home in 2012, defeating Member of the Knesset Zevulun Orlev. Following the primary, the party won 12 seats in the 2013 legislative election, with Bennett becoming the Minister for Economy. Naftali Bennett ( he, נַפְתָּלִי בֶּנֶט, Transliterated: , ; born 25 March 1972) is an Israeli politician who served as the 13th prime minister of Israel from 13 June 2021 to 30 June 2022, and as the 3rd Alternate Prime Minister of Israel from 1 July to 8 November 2022. Bennett served as the leader of the New Right party from 2018 to 2022, having previously led The Jewish Home party between 2012 and 2018. Early elections for the twentieth Knesset were held in Israel on 17 March 2015. Disagreements within the governing coalition, particularly over the budget and a "Jewish state" proposal, led to the dissolution of the government in December 2014. The Jewish Home ( he, הַבַּיִת הַיְהוּדִי, HaBayit HaYehudi) is an Orthodox Jewish and religious Zionist political party in Israel. It was originally formed by a merger of the National Religious Party, Moledet, and Tkuma in November 2008. However, Moledet broke away from the party after its top representative was placed only 17th on the new party's list for the 2009 Knesset elections, and instead ran on a joint list with Hatikva. Tkuma later also left to join the National Union. For the 2013 elections, the Jewish Home and Tkuma parties ran a joint list under the leadership of the chairman of the Jewish Home, Naftali Bennett.
