2015 Santos FC Season
The 2015 season is Santos Futebol Clube's 103rd season in existence and the club's fifty-sixth consecutive season in the top flight of Brazilian football. As well as the Campeonato Brasileiro, the club competes in the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Paulista. On 13 December 2014, Modesto Roma Júnior was elected the new president, after winning by 1,329 votes. On 5 March 2015 manager Enderson Moreira was sacked, and the assistant Marcelo Fernandes was appointed as interim; the latter was definitely appointed as manager seven days later. On 3 May 2015, Santos was crowned champions of Campeonato Paulista after a three-year absence, after defeating Palmeiras by 2–1 in the finals (2–2 aggregate score, 4–2 on penalties). On 9 July, with the team in the relegation zone, Fernandes was replaced by Dorival Júnior, who returned to the club after nearly five years. Santos Futebol Clube (), commonly known simply as Santos or Santos FC and nicknamed the ''Peixe'' (; "fish"), is a Brazilian sports club based in Vila Belmiro, a ''bairro'' in the city of Santos. It is also the team with the most goals in football history. It plays in the ''Paulistão'', the State of São Paulo's premier state league, as well as the ''Brasileirão'', the top tier of the Brazilian football league system. Marcelo Fernandes
Marcelo Faria Fernandes (; born 20 April 1974) is a Brazilian football manager and former player who played as a central defender. He is the current interim head coach of Santos. Playing career Born in Santos, São Paulo, Fernandes played amateur football until his 20s, and began his career at Portuguesa Santista. He moved to Santos in 1991, but after failing to break into the club's starting XI, was loaned to Rio Branco de Americana, Remo, Botafogo-SP, América de Natal and Atlético Mineiro, the last one already in 1998. Fernandes was released by ''Peixe'' in 1999, and returned to Portuguesa Santista. He subsequently returned to América-RN, and then played for Criciúma, Joinville, Náutico, Portuguesa and ABC, retiring with the latter in 2003, aged 32. Coritiba Foot Ball Club, commonly known as Coritiba and colloquially referred to as "Coxa-Branca" or "Coxa", is a Brazilian football club from Curitiba, capital city of the Brazilian state of Paraná. Porecatu is a city in the state of Paraná, Brazil, located at around , at the margins of the Paranapanema River. Vanderlei Farias da Silva (born 1 February 1984), simply known as Vanderlei, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Vila Nova. Two-legged Tie
In sports (particularly association football), a two-legged tie is a contest between two teams which comprises two matches or "legs", with each team as the home team in one leg. The winning team is usually determined by aggregate score, the sum of the scores of the two legs. The Copa do Brasil ( en, Brazil Cup) is a knockout football competition played by 92 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Scottish Cup and Copa Argentina. Promotion And Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings.
