2015 Paris–Tours
The 109th edition of the Paris–Tours classic cycle races, cycling classic was held on 11 October 2015. The race was part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour, ranked as a 1.HC event. Italian rider Matteo Trentin won the race in a three-man sprint with Belgians Tosh Van der Sande and Greg Van Avermaet. At an average speed of , it was the fastest edition in the history of Paris–Tours, surpassing the previous record set by Marco Marcato in 2012, and thus earning Trentin the Ruban Jaune. 2015 UCI Europe Tour
The 2015 UCI Europe Tour was the eleventh season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2015 season began on 29 January 2015 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 25 October 2015 with the Tour of Aegean. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Tom Van Asbroeck of Belgium is the defending champion of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. Ruban Jaune
The Ruban Jaune ''(English; Yellow Ribbon)'' is a cycling title created in 1936 by Henri Desgrange, awarded to the rider recording the fastest average speed in a professional cycling race or stage longer than 200 km. The name is thought to have come from comparison with the Blue Riband accolade awarded to the passenger liner crossing the Atlantic Ocean in record time. Desgrange changed the colour to yellow to reflect the newsprint of L'Auto, the sports newspaper he edited. The current holder of the Ruban Jaune is Philippe Gilbert. History The first holder of the Ruban Jaune was Gustave Danneels of Belgium, who won the 1936 Paris–Tours in 41.455 km/h. Mike Teunissen (born 25 August 1992) is a Dutch bicycle racing, racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career He rode at the 2013 UCI Road World Championships, and was the winner of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships – Men's under-23 race, World Under-23 Cyclo-cross Championships in 2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships – Men's under-23 race, 2013. Edward Theuns
Edward Theuns (born 30 April 1991) is a Belgian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Theuns made his debut for in 2014. He took his first victory in August 2014 in the Grote Prijs Stad Zottegem. He also rode for his national team at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships. In 2015, he began his season with four top-ten finishes at the Étoile de Bessèges, finishing fifth overall and winning the points classification. He took his second career win in March 2015 with victory in the Ronde van Drenthe. In August 2015 it was announced that Theuns would join for the 2016 season. Heinrich Haussler
Heinrich Haussler (born 25 February 1984) is an Australian former road racing cyclist of German heritage, who competed as a professional from 2004 to April 2023. He won 2 stages in Grand Tours during his career, one at the 2005 Vuelta a España and another at the 2009 Tour de France. He was also a good Classics specialist, registering top results in notable classic races, and was the 2015 Australian national road race champion. Yves Lampaert (born 10 April 1991) is a Belgian professional road racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Lampaert practiced judo from the age of six, earned a Black belt (martial arts), black belt, but at the age of 17 started training in cycling. Marco Marcato (born 11 February 1984) is an Italian former racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in San Donà di Piave, Veneto, Marcato won the Tour de Vendée in 2011, and Paris–Tours in 2012: in the latter of these he took the Ruban Jaune as the holder of the record for the fastest average speed in a race of over , at the time. Classic Cycle Races
The classic cycle races are the most prestigious one-day professional road cycling races in the international calendar. Some of these events date back to the 19th century. They are normally held at roughly the same time each year. The five most revered races are often described as the cycling monuments. For the 2005 to 2007 seasons, some classics formed part of the UCI ProTour run by the Union Cycliste Internationale. This event series also included various stage races including the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, Paris–Nice, and the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. The UCI ProTour replaced the UCI Road World Cup series (1989–2004) which contained only one-day races. Many of the classics, and all the Grand Tours, were not part of the UCI ProTour for the 2008 season because of disputes between the UCI and the ASO, which organizes the Tour de France and several other major races.
