Wesley Simina
Wesley Weilbacher Simina (born September 10, 1961) is a Micronesian politician who has served as the president of the Federated States of Micronesia since 2023. He served as the governor of Chuuk State, one of the four states that constitute the Federated States of Micronesia, from July 2005 to July 2011. Simina was re-elected to a second term as governor of Chuuk in a 2009 runoff election against Gillian N. Doone, the son of former Governor Gideon Doone. He and Lt. Governor Johnson Elimo were sworn into their second terms on July 2, 2009, in an inauguration ceremony held at the Saramen Chuuk Development Center at Saramen Chuuk High School in Weno, Chuuk. Joseph John "Joe" Urusemal (born March 19, 1951) is a Micronesian political figure who served as the sixth President of the Federated States of Micronesia from 2003 until 2007. Urusemal is married to former First Lady Olania Latileilam, who is from Satawal. The couple have four children: B.J., Tarsis, Craig and Elenita. Early life Urusemal was born on the island of Woleai in the State of Yap. He attended secondary school on the island of Chuuk (then called Truk) at Xavier High School, a Jesuit institution. Yap State
Yap State ( or ) is one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, located in the westernmost portion of the country. The state borders Palau to the southwest, Guam to the north, and Chuuk State to the east. According to the state's population census carried out in 2020, the total population is 11,577 residing across a total area of 119.54 sq km (46.15 sq mi), though a large majority of the area is water. The only town area in the state, Colonia, serves as the state capital. David Panuelo
David W. Panuelo (born April 13, 1964) is a Micronesian politician who served as the president of the Federated States of Micronesia from 2019 to 2023. Biography Panuelo was born on the island of Pohnpei, where he completed much of his early education. He went to college in the United States, earning a BA in political science from Eastern Oregon University in 1987. In 1988 he was appointed the deputy ambassador for the Micronesian embassy in Fiji where he served until 1993. In 1993 he was appointed to serve at the Micronesian Mission to the United Nations, a position he held until 1996. In 1997, Panuelo was named the director of the Department of Resource Management and Development for the State of Pohnpei, a position he held until 2001. From 2003 to 2010, Panuelo resigned from government work to work in the private business sector. Plurality voting refers to electoral systems in which the candidates in an electoral district who poll more than any other (that is, receive a plurality) are elected.
