Triathlon Pictogram
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that variations of the sport were created and still exist. Jodie Lee Stimpson (born 8 February 1989) is a British professional triathlete who also currently competes in the Iron Man distance of the sport. In 2013, she finished runner up in the ITU World Triathlon Series. She has won 3 global titles during her career. She was also Aquathlon World Champion of the year 2006, U23 vice Triathlon World Champion of the year 2008, 2009 British Triathlon Champion and 2010 British Triathlon Super Series winner. In the prestigious French Club Championship Series ''Lyonnaise des Eaux'', Stimpson represents ''Poissy Tri.'' In 2010, however, Stimpson took part in only one ''Lyonnaise'' triathlon, the ''Triathlon de Paris,'' and won the gold medal. Lasse Lührs (born 16 May 1996) is a German triathlete. Career At junior level, Germany’s national junior champion and in June 2014, he became Junior European Champion in the team sprint with the German team at the European Triathlon Championships in Kitzbühel, Austria. He won gold in the junior race at the 2015 European Cup in Vienna. In July 2015 he became European junior champion in Geneva and also won mixed-relay silver at championships.
