2015 British Soap Awards
The 2015 British Soap Awards honoured the best in British soap operas throughout 2014 and 2015. The ceremony was held on 16 May 2015 at the Palace Theatre, Manchester, and was later broadcast on ITV1 and STV. The publicly voted categories were announced on 30 March 2015, with the vote opening that same day. This included a longlist for the Best Actress and Actor awards. The shortlist, including panel nominations, was released on 27 April 2015. The accolades for Sexiest Female and Male, which were formerly voted for by the public, were axed for this ceremony. This was due to reports of cast members being embarrassed by the accolade. BBC soap ''EastEnders'' won all three of the viewer-voted categories, including Best British Soap, as well as taking home the most awards of the night, with eight wins. The British Soap Awards
The British Soap Awards (BSAs) are an annual awards ceremony in the United Kingdom which honours the best moments in British soap operas. The ceremony is televised on ITV. The trophies given to the winners are made from metal and glass and have been manufactured by British firm Creative Awards since their inception. The majority of the awards are voted for by a panel of industry professionals, while certain awards including Best British Soap and Best Leading Performer are voted for by the general public. History The first British Soap Awards took place in 1999 and was presented by Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, who presented the awards until 2001. Matthew Kelly presented the 2002 awards, before being replaced by Des O'Connor and Melanie Sykes in 2003. Paul O'Grady presented the awards between 2004 and 2005. Hollyoaks
''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which originally began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside''. From 2005 to 2023, episodes have aired on sister channel E4 (TV channel), E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4. In 2023, ''Hollyoaks'' was removed from Channel 4's early evening schedule, but remains on E4 and Channel 4 (VoD service), Channel 4's on demand service with episodes now uploaded to YouTube. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but it has since broadened its appeal to all age groups. Niamh Donoghue
Dr. Niamh Donoghue is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''Doctors'', portrayed by Jessica Regan. Niamh was introduced as a general practitioner at the fictional Mill Health Centre. She first appeared on 1 May 2014 and made her last appearance on 1 April 2016. Jessica Regan
Jessica Regan (born 24 February 1982) is an Irish actress, known for portraying the role of Niamh Donoghue in the BBC soap opera ''Doctors''. For her portrayal of the role, she won the award for Best Female Acting Performance at the 2014 RTS Midlands Awards, as well as the award for Best Newcomer at the 2015 British Soap Awards. Following her departure from ''Doctors'', she starred in the BBC series '' Ill Behaviour''. ''Doctors'' is a British Medical drama, medical soap opera, first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2000 and concluded on 14 November 2024. Deirdre Barlow
Deirdre Barlow (also Hunt, Langton and Rachid) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Anne Kirkbride. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 November 1972. Her final appearance was on 8 October 2014. Kirkbride decided to take an extended break from the soap in autumn 2014 and last appeared on-screen on 8 October 2014. She died in January 2015 before she could return to work. The character of Deirdre was killed-off and given a farewell storyline on 8 July 2015, with her funeral taking place on 13 July 2015. Anne Kirkbride (21 June 1954 – 19 January 2015) was an English actress, best known for her long-running role as Deirdre Barlow in the ITV soap ''Coronation Street'', which she played for 42 years from 1972 to 2014.
