2015 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2015 Atlanta Dream season was the 8th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association, and their 2nd season under head coach, Michael Cooper. The team missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2008 season. The Dream opened their season up against the New York Liberty on June 5, 2015, with an 82–73 loss. Michael Cooper
Michael Jerome Cooper (born April 15, 1956), nicknamed "Coop", is an American basketball coach and former player. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers during his entire career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning five NBA championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era. He was an eight-time selection to the NBA All-Defensive Team, including five times on the first team. He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. Cooper was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024. The Lakers retired his 21 jersey in 2025. As a coach, Cooper led the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) to two championships and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds to one NBA G League title. Cassidie Cierra Burdick (born September 30, 1993) is an American basketball player who is currently playing for Valencia Basket Club. High school Burdick graduated from David W. Butler High School in 2011. She was one of five finalists for the Naismith National High School Player of the Year award in 2011. College Burdick graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2015. Tiffany Kiara Hayes (born September 20, 1989) is an American-Azerbaijani professional basketball player for the Golden State Valkyries of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Hayes played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies, playing for the 2009 and 2010 NCAA National Champions. Erica Wheeler (born May 2, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Wheeler was undrafted out of Rutgers, but eventually made her way into the WNBA in 2015. Early life Wheeler grew up in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City. Liberty City is one of the worst, most crime-ridden inner cities in America, and Wheeler saw two of her close friends die when she was young. Wheeler attended Parkway Academy and was a member of the basketball team there. College career Wheeler committed to play at Rutgers in 2009. Matee Ajavon (born May 7, 1986) is a Liberian-American basketball player. A 5'8" guard, Ajavon was chosen by the Houston Comets as the fifth overall draft pick in the 2008 WNBA draft. Early life As a child, Ajavon immigrated to the United States with her family from Monrovia, Liberia. High school Ajavon graduated from Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey. Brittany "Ice" Hrynko (born April 24, 1993) is an American basketball player, currently signed with the Philadelphia Reign of the Women's Basketball Development Association since 2019 and has also played with the Harlem Globetrotters since 2018. Roneeka Hodges (born July 19, 1982) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the LSU Tigers and Florida State Seminoles. She was selected fifteenth overall by the Houston Comets in the 2005 WNBA draft and played in the WNBA for eleven seasons with the Comets, Minnesota Lynx, San Antonio Silver Stars, Indiana Fever, Tulsa Shock, and Atlanta Dream.
