2014–15 Slovak First Football League
The 2014–15 Slovak First Football League (known as the Slovak Fortuna Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 22nd season of first-tier football league in Slovakia, since its establishment in 1993. This season started on 11 July 2014. ŠK Slovan Bratislava are the defending champions. Teams A total of 12 teams are contesting the league, including 11 sides from the 2013–14 season and one promoted from the 2. liga. Relegation for FC Nitra to the 2014–15 DOXXbet liga was confirmed on 20 May 2014. The one relegated team was replaced by ŽP Šport Podbrezová. The Slovak Super Liga is the top level football league in Slovakia, currently known as the Fortuna Liga due to a sponsorship arrangement. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is eleven, held by Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. History Czechoslovakia period Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia (1918–1939 and 1945–1993). The first Slovak championship Zväzové Majstrovstvá Slovenska was played between Slovak teams (1925–1933); until 1935-36, no Slovak team played in the Czechoslovak (professional, state) league. Podbrezová
Podbrezová (; hu, Zólyombrézó) is a large village and municipality in Brezno District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia, around 10 km west of the district seat town, Brezno.
