2014–15 Real Sociedad Season
The 2014–15 season was Real Sociedad's 68th season in La Liga. This article shows player statistics and all matches (official and friendly) that the club played during the 2014–15 season. Season summary In the summer of 2014, Antoine Griezmann was sold to Atlético Madrid while top forward Carlos Vela missed the early stages of the season due to fitness issues. Most performances during pre-season were poor. Real Sociedad faced Scottish side Aberdeen in the UEFA Europa League Third qualifying round. Real Socieded progressed 5–2 on aggregate, although the second leg, away from home, was far from convincing. In the next round, Real Sociedad were emphatically beaten by Russian club Krasnodar. In addition, Gerónimo Rulli suffered a serious injury on his debut. The early months of the Liga season followed the same pattern. Real Sociedad de Fútbol, S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Real Sociedad (; ''Royal Society''), La Real in Spanish, Erreala in Basque, is a Spanish professional sports club in the city of San Sebastián, Basque Country, founded on 7 September 1909. It plays its home matches at the Anoeta Stadium. Real Sociedad won the Liga title in 1980–81 and 1981–82, and finished runner-up in 1979–80, 1987–88, and 2002–03. Alfreð Finnbogason (born 1 February 1989) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a forward for Danish Superliga club Lyngby Boldklub and the Iceland national team. With Heerenveen, Alfreð was the Dutch Eredivisie's top scorer in the 2013–14 season with 29 goals, a tally topped only by Luis Suárez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jonathan Soriano in Europe's top leagues that season. Markel Bergara Larrañaga (born 5 May 1986) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He spent the better part of his career with Real Sociedad, appearing in 212 competitive matches and scoring four goals. In La Liga, he also represented Getafe.
