2014 U.S. Classic
The 2014 U.S. Classic, officially the 2014 Secret U.S. Classic, was the 31st edition of the U.S. Classic and was held on August 2, 2014, at Sears Centre Arena in Chicago. The event served as a qualification event to the 2014 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, held later in August. Sears Centre Arena
The Now Arena (originally known as the Sears Centre, Sears Centre Arena and stylized as NOW Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a northwest suburb from Chicago, near land which formerly contained the Poplar Creek Music Theater. Since 2016, the arena has been home to the Windy City Bulls, the Chicago Bulls' affiliate in the NBA G League. History The venue was a joint venture between Sears Holdings, Ryan Companies, and the Village of Hoffman Estates. The project began in 1998; however, plans were not finalized until 2005. Construction began in July 2005. The venue opened as Sears Centre on October 26, 2006, with performances by Duran Duran and Bob Dylan. In 2011, the Village of Hoffman Estates took over ownership of the arena after Ryan Companies walked away from the arena due to the arena's lack of success. Rachel Gowey
Rachel Kathryn Gowey (born October 3, 1997) is a former American artistic gymnast. She was a U.S. National Team member, from 2014 until her retirement from elite gymnastics in 2016, following her performance at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Gowey was a member of the gold-winning U.S. team at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto. There, she also won a gold medal individually on the uneven bars. During her elite career, she was coached by Liang Chow, coach of 2008 Olympic balance beam champion Shawn Johnson and 2012 Olympic individual all-around champion Gabby Douglas. She was coached by Jenny Rowland at the University of Florida, where she began attending in 2016. Amelia Hundley
Amelia Magdalena Hundley (born January 21, 1998) is a former American artistic gymnast. She won a gold, silver, and bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She also won team gold medals competing for the United States at the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships and the City of Jesolo Trophy. Hundley ended her elite gymnastics career at the 2016 Olympic gymnastics Trials in San Jose, California. She now attends the University of Florida on a full athletic scholarship and will compete for the Florida Gators gymnastics team in the NCAA. Veronica "Nica" Hults (born June 16, 1998) is an American former artistic gymnast. She is a former national team member. Personal life Veronica was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was raised by mother Emer and father Scott Hults. She has two younger siblings. She currently lives in Coppell, Texas. Junior career 2010 In 2010, Hults competed as a Level 9 gymnast and trained at All Olympia Gymnastics Center under Artur Akopyan. She was the Level 9 State Floor Champion and the Western National Floor Champion. Felicia Hano
Felicia Yukiye Hano (born August 7, 1998) is a retired American artistic gymnast and trampolinist. She was a U.S. National team member in 2014, and was a member of the UCLA Bruins women's gymnastics team. Career In her career as a trampolinist, she won silver medals in the Tumbling and Double mini trampoline competitions at the World Age Group Championships. As an artistic gymnast, she qualified to the 2013 USA National Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, Connecticut. Madison "Maddie" Desch (born August 25, 1997) is a retired American artistic gymnast who was a member of the gold medal winning US team at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 2015 Pan American Games. She competed on the gymnastics team at the University of Alabama where she accepted a full athletic scholarship to study beginning in 2016. World Champions Centre (WCC) is an American artistic gymnastics academy, located in Spring, Texas. It is home to Olympic champion Simone Biles and is owned by her family. History After the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Aimee Boorman, the longtime coach of Simone Biles, was looking to leave Bannon's Gymnastix. As a result, Biles' mother, Nellie, who co-owned a chain of fourteen nursing homes around Texas, suggested that the family build a gym. Alyssa Lyn Baumann (born May 17, 1998) is a retired American artistic gymnast, and has competed for the United States at international events as well as for University of Florida team. Baumann is the 2014 and 2015 United States silver medalist on the balance beam. She was a member of the 2014 World Championship team that won gold.
