2014 Thai General Election
Early general elections were held in Thailand on 2 February 2014 after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra requested King Bhumibol Adulyadej for the dissolution of parliament more than a year early owing to Thailand's political crisis. Voters elected a new House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Assembly. However, voting was disrupted in 69 of 375 constituencies by the political opposition that had called for a boycott. This made a voting re-run in several constituencies necessary, depending on the security situation in the affected districts and the first voting re-run date was set for 2 March. Results were expected to be announced after voting had taken place in all parts of the country. On 21 March 2014, the Constitutional Court invalidated the elections on grounds that they were not completed within one day throughout the country. House Of Representatives Of Thailand
The House of Representatives (, , ) is the lower house of the National Assembly of Thailand, the legislative branch of the Thai government. The system of government of Thailand is that of a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy. The system of the Thai legislative branch is modelled after the Westminster system. The House of Representatives has 500 members, of which 400 are elected through single member constituency elections, while the other 100 are chosen through party lists parallel voting. Surat Thani (, ), often shortened to Surat, is the largest of the southern provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. It lies on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Phatthalung (, ) is one of the southern provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Satun, and Trang. Chumphon (, ) is a southern Provinces of Thailand, province (''changwat'') of Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani province, Surat Thani, and Ranong province, Ranong. The Thai Public Broadcasting Service (; ), or Thai PBS (; ), is a public broadcasting service in Thailand.
