FC Istiklol
Football Club Istiklol ( tg, Клуби Футболи Истиқлол, Klubi futboli «Istiqlol»), ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال استقلال دوشنبه), is a Tajik professional football club based in Dushanbe. Founded in 2007, the club competes in the Ligai Olii Tojikiston, the top flight of Tajik football league system. It was founded to commemorate the Independence of Tajikistan; ''Istiklol'' in Tajik means 'independence'. History Early years (2007–2009) Istiklol Dushanbe was established in November 2007, under the Presidency of Shohruh Saidov. In 2008, Istiklol competed in the Dushanbe Group of the Second Division under the guidance of head coach Kanoat Latifov, winning all 30 league games with a +154 goal difference and winning promotion to the Tajik League. In 2009, in their debut in the Tajik League, led by new head coach Salohiddin Gafurov, the team finished fourth.

Khurshed Mahmudov (born 8 August 1982) is a Tajikistani footballer who plays Tajik League side Regar-TadAZ Tursunzoda, and is a former member of the Tajikistan national football team. Career In February 2014, after 12 years with Regar-TadAZ Tursunzoda, Makhmudov signed for FC Istiklol. After two seasons, and 52 appearances for Istiklol, Makhmudov's contract wasn't renewed in January 2016 and he left Istiklol. In February 2017, Makhmudov switched to Futsal, joining DISI Invest. After six-months with DISI Invest, Makhmudov returned to football, signing with Regar-TadAZ Tursunzoda. Tursunzoda ( tg, Турсунзода; also ''Tursunzade'' from russian: Турсунзаде) is a city in western Tajikistan, known for its aluminium smelting plant TadAZ. It is located 60 km west of Dushanbe (40 km west of Hisor), near the border with Uzbekistan. It is near several rivers, Shirkent and Karatag immediately to the west and east of the city, and Kofarnihon further east. Its population is estimated at 55,700 for the city proper and 298,800 for the city with the outlying communities (2020). Its population was given as 40,600 in the 1989 census, falling to 39,000 in 2000, and estimated at 37,000 in 2006. Vahdat ( tg, Ваҳдат) is a city in western Tajikistan, on the bank of the Kofarnihon River, 21 km east of Dushanbe. It was previously called Yangi-Bozor (1927–1936), Orjonikidzeobod (1936–1993, after Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze) and Kofarnihon (1993–2006). Its population is estimated at 43,200 for the city proper and 342,700 for the city with the outlying communities (2020). Panj () is a city in southern Tajikistan which is situated on the Afghan border, some south of the capital Dushanbe. It is located along the north bank of the river Panj, from which it derives its name. The population of the town is 12,500 (January 2020 estimate).
