2014 Rhode Island Elections
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Rhode Island on November 4, 2014. All of Rhode Island's executive officers went up for election as well as a United States Senate seat and both of Rhode Island's two seats in the United States House of Representatives. Partisan primary, Primary elections were held on September 9, 2014. Governor Incumbent Democratic Party (United States), Democratic governor Lincoln Chafee was eligible to run for re-election to a second term, but decided to retire. The Democratic nominee was State treasurer, Rhode Island Treasurer Gina Raimondo and the Republican nominee was Cranston, Rhode Island, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. Also running were Robert J. Dawson Tucker Hodgson (born July 10, 1978) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Rhode Island Senate who represented the 35th district from January 4, 2011 until January 6, 2015. Peter Kilmartin
Peter F. Kilmartin (born 1962) was the 73rd Attorney General of Rhode Island. Kilmartin is also a retired police captain and a former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Biography Kilmartin was born February 18, 1962, in Rhode Island. Kilmartin attended William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket and graduated in 1980. Kilmartin was sworn in as a police officer with the Pawtucket Police Department in June 1984 while continuing his studies at Roger Williams University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1988. He later returned to school, and earned his Juris Doctor in 1998 from Roger Williams University School of Law. Scott Avedisian
Scott Avedisian (born January 16, 1965) is an American politician and the former Republican mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island, the third largest city in the state after Providence and Cranston. Avedisian represented Ward 1 in the Warwick City Council from 1990 to 2000, being reelected four times. He was first elected mayor in 2000, and served until 2018. He is the youngest person ever elected as Mayor of Warwick and was the youngest person ever elected to the Warwick City Council. Daniel McKee
Daniel J. McKee (born June 16, 1951) is an American politician and businessman serving as the 76th governor of Rhode Island since 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he also served as Rhode Island's 69th lieutenant governor from 2015 to 2021.
