2014 Paris Municipal Election
The 2014 Paris Municipal elections took place on 23 and 30 March 2014, at the same time as other 2014 French municipal elections, French municipal elections. Anne Hidalgo of the Socialist Party (France), Socialist Party was elected mayor of Paris, becoming the first woman to hold that position. She had been the city's deputy mayor. Hidalgo won with around 55% of the vote in the second round. Her principal opponent was Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet of the Union for a Popular Movement, UMP who had finished ahead of Hidalgo in first round of voting on 23 March. Radio France Internationale, usually referred to as RFI, is the State media, state-owned international radio news network of France. With 59.5 million listeners in 2022, it is one of the most-listened-to international radio stations in the world, along with Deutsche Welle, the BBC World Service and Voice of America. RFI broadcasts 24 hours per day around the world in French and in 16 other languages in FM, shortwave, medium wave, satellite and on its website. Municipal Elections In France
Municipal elections in France allow the people to elect members of the City Council in each commune. These are called conseillers municipaux (city councilors). They elect the mayor, who chairs the city council, as well as Deputies to the Mayor. The term of office of councilors, the mayor and his deputies is, in principle, six years. As of 8 October 2022, the most recent elections were held on 15 March and 28 June 2020. The electors of the Senate are 95% determined by the municipal elections. The National Rally (, , RN), known as the National Front from 1972 to 2018 (, , FN), is a French far-right political party, described as right-wing populist and nationalist.
