2014 Oklahoma Sooners Football Team
The 2014 Oklahoma Sooners football team represented the University of Oklahoma in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season, the 120th season of Sooner football. The team was led by two-time Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award winner, Bob Stoops, in his 16th season as head coach. They played their home games at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. They were a member of the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma entered the 2014 season ranked 4th in AP Poll and were projected to capture their first Big 12 title since 2012, finishing 1st in the Big 12 media poll. Bob Stoops
Robert Anthony Stoops (born September 9, 1960) is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League (UFL). He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, coaching the Renegades in 2020 and was re-signed for the rebooted XFL in 2023. Stoops' Renegades won the XFL Championship in 2023. Blake Bell (born August 7, 1991) is an American professional football tight end. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft. Geneo Grissom
Geneo Grissom (born June 4, 1992) is an American former professional football defensive end. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. College career After redshirting in 2010 with the Sooners, Grissom played as a reserve defensive tackle in 2011 and 2012, picking up 9 total tackles and one tackle for a loss. In 2013, Grissom saw his first career start come against ULM Warhawks in which he recorded two tackles. His first interception came on October 12 against the Texas Longhorns, which he returned 54 yards for a touchdown. Jordan Phillips (born September 21, 1992) is an American professional football defensive tackle. He played college football at Oklahoma and was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft. The Bedlam Series is the name given to the Oklahoma–Oklahoma State rivalry. It refers to the athletics rivalry between the Oklahoma State University–Stillwater, Oklahoma State University Oklahoma State Cowboys, Cowboys and Cowgirls of the Big 12 Conference and the University of Oklahoma Oklahoma Sooners, Sooners of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Melvin Gordon III (born April 13, 1993) is an American professional football running back. He played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers, earning unanimous All-American honors and winning the Doak Walker Award as the top college running back in 2014. Samaje Perine ( ; born September 16, 1995) is an American professional football running back for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL).
