2014 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The 2014 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour was the tenth season of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (WSMT). It began with the UNOH Battle at the Beach at Daytona International Speedway on February 18, which did not count towards the championship. The first race for the championship was the Whelen Season Opener 150 at Caraway Speedway on March 9. It ended with the Southern Slam 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 9. George Brunnhoelzl III entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion. A previous two-time series runner-up, Andy Seuss won his first championship title, after a fifth-place finish at the final race in Charlotte. Seuss, who won a trio of races in the opening half of the season – two at Caraway Speedway and one at South Boston Speedway – finished 14 points clear of Brunnhoelzl III, who won a pair of races at Langley Speedway and also at Caraway Speedway. Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The Southern Modified Auto Racing Teams (SMART) Tour is a Modified stock car racing series racing in the Southeastern United States, Southeastern region of The United States. The series began in 1989, NASCAR took over the series in 2005. During its time as a NASCAR sanctioned series it followed identical regulations to the Northern NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The series merged with the Northern Modified Tour in 2017 bringing an end to the series after almost 30 years. The series came back in late 2020 without NASCAR sanction under the SMART Tour name and ran its first full season since 2004 in 2021 with the likes of Bobby Labonte and Ryan Preece competing. Gary Myers (born March 4, 1950) is an American former professional stock car racing driver who has previously competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, the NASCAR Grand National East Series, the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour. Myers is the father of racing drivers Burt Myers and Jason Myers respectively, both of which compete in modified racing. Ryan Preece (born October 25, 1990) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 60 Ford Mustang (seventh generation), Ford Mustang Dark Horse for RFK Racing. Frank Fleming (born July 25, 1959) is an American stock car racing driver. Fleming previously competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
