Football At The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics
The football competition at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics took place at the Wutaishan Stadium and the Jiangning Sports Center, both located in Nanjing, China, between 14–27 August 2014. There were two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls. Players must be 15 years old (born between 1 January and 31 December 1999) to be eligible to participate. Each match lasted 80 minutes, consisting of two periods of 40 minutes, with an interval of 15 minutes. Venues Participating teams One team from each continental confederation participated in each tournament. The same country may not participate in both the boys' and girls' tournament. As hosts, China was given Asia's spot to compete in the girls' tournament (and thus could not participate in the boys' tournament). Teams may qualify through preliminary competitions, or be nominated for participation by their confederation, with the invited teams ratified by FIFA during their meeting in Zürich on 3–4 October 2013. Qadsia SC
Al Qadsia Sporting Club () is a professional football club based in Kuwait City. Al Qadsia was founded in 1953 as ''Al-Jazira'', before being renamed to ''Al Qadsia SC'' on 20 October 1960. Qadsia currently plays in the Kuwait Premier League and has won the league 17 times. Qadsia plays in the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, which is in Hawalli, and is the third largest stadium in Kuwait. History Al Qadsia was one of the first Kuwaiti teams to be established, alongside Al-Arabi and Kuwait SC. They started playing in 1961–62 and finished second for three consecutive seasons, behind Al-Arabi, who started the Kuwaiti El Clásico between them. Kuwait Sports Club () is a Kuwaiti professional football club based in Kuwait City. Their football team has won Kuwait Premier League 19 times and has won over 50 trophies overall. The club plays in the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium located in Kaifan, which is the 5th largest stadium in Kuwait. It is the first Kuwaiti club to ever win an Asian title, having won the 2009 AFC Cup, 2012 AFC Cup and 2013 AFC Cup. History The club is also called ''Al Kuwait'' and ''Al Ameed''. 2014 AFC Cup
The 2014 AFC Cup was the 11th edition of the AFC Cup, a football competition organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for clubs from "developing countries" in Asia. Al-Kuwait were the two-time defending champions, but were eliminated by Persipura Jayapura in the quarter-finals. In the final, Al-Qadsia of Kuwait defeated Erbil of Iraq 4–2 on penalties after a 0–0 draw in regulation time, to win their first AFC Cup title after losing in the previous year's final. 2014 AFC Champions League
The 2014 AFC Champions League was the 33rd edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 12th under the current AFC Champions League title. Guangzhou Evergrande were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Western Sydney Wanderers in the quarter-finals. In the final, Western Sydney Wanderers of Australia defeated Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia 1–0 on aggregate, to become the first Australian team to win the title, and in doing so qualified for the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries and territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC that managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, British Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. In 1986, ALFC merged with AFC. Football At The 2014 Central American And Caribbean Games
The 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games football tournament is scheduled to be the 20th edition of the competition at the 21st edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games. It will be the first CAC Games football competition to take since 2006 due to the cancellation of the 2010 edition. Although the competition is considered to be an under-21 age group competition, up to three players born before 1 January 1993 may be named in the squad. Each participating national football association will select a final squad of 20 players. The women's tournament was won by Mexico over Colombia. The men's tournament was won by Mexico as well, over Venezuela. This is the 6th gold medal in this competition for the Mexican side.
