2014 ITU World Triathlon Series
The 2014 ITU World Triathlon Series was a series of eight World Championship Triathlon events that lead up to a Grand Final held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Series was organised under the auspices of the world governing body of triathlon, the International Triathlon Union (ITU). At the conclusion of the series Javier Gómez of Spain and Gwen Jorgensen of the United States were declared the 2014 ITU World Champions. ITU World Triathlon Series
The World Triathlon Championship Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall World Triathlon champion. The elite championship races are held, with one exception, over two distances, the standard or 'Olympic' distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run). The ITU (the former name of World Triathlon) world champion between 1989 and 2008 had been decided in a single annual championship race. Since 2018 a mixed relay series has been run in tandem, where national teams compete in mixed team relays for prize money and Olympic qualifying points. Dmitry Polyanski
Dmitry Andreyevich Polyanski (russian: Дмитрий Андреевич Полянский, born 19 November 1986 in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai), is a Russian professional triathlete, 2009 U23 European Champion and permanent member of the National Elite Team. Polyanski is, together with Alexander Bryukhankov and Ivan Vasiliev, qualified for the London Olympics 2012. In 2003 Polyanski took part in his first ITU competition in Győr and was also awarded the title ''Master of Sports'' (Мастер спорта). Emma Jackson (triathlete)
Emma Jackson (born 1991 in Joyner, Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian professional triathlete, U23 World Champion of the year 2010, and 2009 Junior World Championships silver medalist. From 2007 to 2010 Jackson took part in 16 ITU competitions and achieved 11 top ten positions. On 1 November 2009 she won the Australian Noosa Triathlon ($12.000) and since then for Australian media it is commonplace to mention Emma Jackson together with the famous three Australian triathlon Emmas: Emma Carney, Emma Snowsill, and Emma Moffatt. Sarah True (''née'' Groff, born November 27, 1981) is an American athlete who competes in triathlon. She represented the United States in triathlon in 2012, finishing in fourth place, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics. True is the winner of the 2007 ITU Aquathlon World Championships and finished in second place in the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Series.
