Colin Montgomerie
Colin Stuart Montgomerie (born 23 June 1963) is a Scottish professional golfer. He has won a record eight European Tour PGA European Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutive ones from 1993 to 1999. He has won 31 European Tour events, the most of any British player, placing him fourth on the List of golfers with most European Tour wins, all-time list of golfers with most European Tour victories. Montgomerie won three consecutive Volvo PGA Championships at Wentworth Club between 1998 and 2000. He has finished runner-up on five occasions in Men's major golf championships, major championships and his career-high Official World Golf Ranking, world ranking is second. English Senior Open
The English Seniors Open was a European Senior Tour men's professional golf tournament. It was first played in 2003 and each of the first three stagings were won by Carl Mason. In 2007 the prize fund was £150,000 and the host course was St Mellion in Cornwall. After a five-year break, the tournament returned in 2013 and 2014 at Rockliffe Hall in County Durham, with a £200,000 purse and a £30,000 first prize. European Senior Tour Rookie Of The Year
The European Senior Tour, currently branded as the Legends Tour, is a professional golf tour for male golfers aged 50 and over, run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was titled as the Staysure Tour for the 2018 and 2019 seasons after UK-based insurance company Staysure became the first title sponsors of the senior tour in December 2017. The tour was relaunched as the Legends Tour in 2020, after Ryan Howsam, founder and owner of Staysure, took majority ownership in a joint venture with the European Tour. History The Tour was founded in 1992 after calls from 60 leading professionals five years after the first Senior Open Championship in 1987. The highest profile event in Europe is the Senior British Open Championship, which is co-sanctioned by PGA Tour Champions and was played on the Old Course at St Andrews for the first time in 2018. Barry Lane
Barry Douglas Lane (21 June 1960 – 31 December 2022) was an English professional golfer. He won five official European Tour events between 1988 and 2004. He played in the 1993 Ryder Cup and won the inaugural Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf in late 1995. After reaching 50 he had considerable success on the European Senior Tour, winning eight times between 2010 and 2019. Early life Lane was born in Hayes, Middlesex but grew up in Bracknell. He only took up golf at the age of 14 but became an assistant professional at nearby Downshire Golf Club in 1976, at the age of 16. He was an assistant at Downshire for 8 years. Professional career Lane first played on the European Tour in 1982, after three failed attempts at Q-School. MCB Tour Championship
The MCB Tour Championship is a men's senior (over 50) professional golf tournament on the European Senior Tour. It has been held every year, in December, since 2009. In 2009 and 2010 it was called the Mauritius Commercial Bank Open and was played at the start of the season, while from 2011 to 2017 it was the final event of the season. It was played at the Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius. In 2017, the prize fund was €450,000. In 2018 the Tour Championship consisted of two tournaments. The MCB Tour Championship Mauritius was played at Constance Belle Mare Plage followed by MCB Tour Championship Seychelles the following week, played at Constance Lemuria, Praslin Island, Seychelles. Ian Woosnam
Ian Harold Woosnam (born 2 March 1958) is a Welsh professional golfer. Nicknamed "Woosie", Woosnam was one of the "Big Five" generation of European golfers, all born within 12 months of one another, all of whom have won majors, and made Europe competitive in the Ryder Cup. His peers in this group were Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, and Sandy Lyle. Woosnam's major championship win was at the 1991 Masters Tournament. Philip Golding
Philip Keith Golding (born 25 July 1962) is an English professional golfer. Career Golding was born in Luton, Bedfordshire. He was a promising cricketer who played for Middlesex Colts before he took up golf at the age of 17. He turned professional in 1981, becoming an assistant at his local golf club. Golding has been a regular fixture at the European Tour's qualifying school, where in 2007 he stretched his record to 18 appearances. He has often won a tour card, but up to the age of forty he had never done well enough on the Tour to retain his card automatically. Paul Wesselingh
Paul Wesselingh (born 11 October 1961) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Senior Tour. Career Wesselingh was born in Liverpool. He turned professional in 1985 but opted for a career as a club professional rather than attempting a touring career, due to his desire to stay close to his young family. His club career culminated in a position as senior professional at Kedleston Park Golf Club in Derbyshire, where he succeeded former European Tour player David J. Russell. During this stage of his career, Wesselingh won the European Club Professionals Championship, played three times in The Open Championship and played on three GB&I teams against the USA in the PGA Cup. Tim Thelen (born June 14, 1961) is an American professional golfer. Early life Thelen was born in Albany, Minnesota. He played college golf at Foothills Junior College and then Houston Baptist University. At Houston, he was teammates with Colin Montgomerie. Professional career He worked as a club professional, winning the PGA Club Professional Championship in 2000 and 2003, as well as the 2009 PGA Assistant Professional Championship. He played in nine PGA Championships but failed to make the cut in any of them. He won the 2001 PGA Professional Player of the Year award. After turning 50, Thelen won the European Senior Tour qualifying school in 2010. He finished 24th on the Tour's Order of Merit in 2011 and won his first Tour event at the 2012 Berenberg Bank Masters in Germany.
