2014 Berlin Marathon
The 2014 Berlin Marathon was the 41st edition of the Berlin Marathon. The marathon took place in Berlin, Germany, on 28 September 2014 and was the fourth World Marathon Majors race of the year. The men's race was won by Kenyan athlete Dennis Kimetto in a world record time of 2:02:57, breaking the previous record of Wilson Kipsang by 26 seconds. Kimetto's performance means that the last six men's world records at the distance have all been set at the Berlin Marathon. Abera Kuma Lema (born 31 August 1990) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner, who competes in track, cross country, and road running events. An African junior champion over 5000 m, he won his first senior international medal (a team bronze) at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. He was disqualified at the 2011 event for fighting with Eritrea's Samuel Tsegay. Later that year, he won the 5000 m national title and was fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. Feyse Tadese Boru (born 19 November 1988) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in the half marathon. Career She made her marathon debut at the 2009 Venice Marathon and finished in tenth place with a time of 2:36:57. Feyse gained her first international selection for Ethiopia at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz. She finished seventh on her senior debut at the event and helped an Ethiopian team of Meselech Melkamu, Tirunesh Dibaba and Mamitu Daska to the silver medal in the team race behind Kenya. Kazuhiro Maeda
Kazuhiro Maeda (; born 19 April 1981) is a Japanese long-distance runner. Born in Shiroishi, Saga, Maeda made his international debut at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Athletics, where he ran in the heats of the 5000 metres. He won the Karatsu 10-Miler in 2003. He was part of the Japanese men's team for the short race at the 2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. At the 2006 Asian Games he ran in the 5000 m and came in fourth place – however, he was the best Asian-born runner in the race as all the medallists were Kenyan emigrants to Qatar and Bahrain. Fernando Cabada Jr. (born April 22, 1982) is an American distance runner. He first established himself in the national running scene while in high school when he was ranked among the ten fastest high school boys in the 3200 meters in the United States. Having developed a reputation as an elite prospect, he accepted a scholarship from University of Arkansas, but became disenchanted with school and attended a total of four different colleges before quitting running altogether and pursuing manual labor jobs in the early 2000s.
