2014 BBVA Compass Bowl
The 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl was an American college football bowl game that was played on January 4, 2014 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The eighth edition of the BBVA Compass Bowl (which was originally called the Birmingham Bowl), it featured the 2013 Vanderbilt Commodores football team, Vanderbilt Commodores of the Southeastern Conference and the 2013 Houston Cougars football team, Houston Cougars of the American Athletic Conference. It was one of the 2013–14 NCAA football bowl games, 2013–14 bowl games that concluded the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season, 2013 FBS football season. Legion Field
Legion Field is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States in Birmingham, Alabama, primarily designed to be used as a venue for American football, but occasionally used for other large outdoor events. Opened in 1927, it is named in honor of the American Legion, a U.S. organization of military veterans. 2013 NCAA Division I FBS Football Season
The 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season was the highest level college football competition in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The regular season began on August 29, 2013 and ended on December 14, 2013. Birmingham Bowl
The Birmingham Bowl is a post-season NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS college football bowl game played annually in Birmingham, Alabama. First held in 2006, the game is owned and operated by ESPN Events. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) also provides marketing, management and game-day operations support. The game was previously known as the PapaJohns.com Bowl (2006–2010) and the BBVA Compass Bowl (2011–2014). TicketSmarter signed on as the title sponsor of the 2019 game, making it the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl. John O'Korn
John August O'Korn (born November 22, 1994) is a former American football quarterback. After attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he led his team to the 2012 FHSAA 7A state high school title, O'Korn chose to attend the University of Houston. He began as the starting quarterback for Houston during the 2013 season as a true freshman after teammate David Piland suffered career-ending injuries. Markeith Ambles (born November 26, 1991) is an American professional gridiron football wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Houston. College career Ambles began his college career at USC in 2010. He was suspended in October 2010 due to late arrivals to team functions. Deontay Greenberry (born 1994) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Houston. Early years Greenberry attended Washington Union High School in Easton, California, where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and track.
