2013–14 Mascom Top 8 Cup
The 2013–14 Mascom Top 8 Cup, also known as Mascom Top 8 Cup Season 3 for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Mascom Top 8 Cup. It was played from November 2, 2013 to March 1, 2014 and featured the top eight teams from the 2012-13 Botswana Premier League. BDF XI defeated Township Rollers in the final to win their first title. History The 2013 tournament was played from November to March instead of February to May like the previous tournament. It was also the first tournament to span two calendar years. It was the only tournament to take place in Botswana for the season, since the 2014 FA Challenge Cup was not played, therefore the winner represented the country in the CAF Confederation Cup. There were no debutants in this edition of the Mascom Top 8 Cup. Gilport Lions Football Club is a soccer club from Botswana based in Lobatse. Gilport Lions team colours are green and white. The club was previously called ''Botswana Meat Commission F.C.''. They have won the FA Challenge Cup in 2016. History The club was founded in 1969 by workers at the Botswana Meat Commission in Lobatse. They won the 2007 FA Challenge Cup, defeating ECCO City Greens F.C. on penalties. They also made the cup final in 1996, losing 2–0 to Township Rollers. In 2015, the club's ownership changed, with owners Kelesitse and Portia Gilika changing the club's name to Gilport Lions. The word "Gilport" is derived from their names. Madinda Ndlovu (born 2 May 1965) is a Zimbabwean former footballer and manager currently in charge of Botswana Premier League club Gaborone United. He is generally considered one of the greatest Zimbabwean players of all time. After retiring Ndlovu began his managerial career as head coach of his boyhood club Highlanders in 1998. Mwampule Masule
Mwampule Masule (born 14 August 1991) is a Motswana professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the Botswana national team and is currently a free agent. He last played for Botswana Premier League club Orapa United. Mwampule began his career with Division One side Ferry Wanderers in 2007 before moving to Kazungula Young Fighters the following season. Soon after he was signed by Botswana Premier League giants Township Rollers, immediately helping them win the double. Masule stayed nine years with the Gaborone-based club, winning seven league titles, one FA Cup and two Mascom Top 8 cups.
