2013–14 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship
The 2013–2014 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship was the second running of the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship. The series consisted of 13 races, spread across 4 meetings began on 26 October 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit, supporting the 2013 Indian Grand Prix and ended on 16 February 2014. Rupert Svendsen-Cook claimed the championship title, after successfully appealing a penalty that was given to him, at the final round of the season at the Madras Motor Racing Track. Svendsen-Cook had been given a 30-second penalty for pushing Tio Ellinas off the track, which had allowed Ellinas to provisionally claim the championship title. This penalty was overturned in March, allowing Svendsen-Cook's advantage of two points to stand. MRF Challenge is an open-wheel motorsport formula based in India organized by Madras Motor Sports Club Madras Motor Sports Club is an Indian auto racing club founded in 1952 and based in Chennai, India. Madras Motor Sports Club with its history of over 50 years is the reason that Chennai can be called the epicentre of motor racing in India. M .... This was India's first and only FIA approved and inscribed international series. This was promoted as a Winter series where young and upcoming racing drivers could get valuable seat and track time during the off-season months in competitive tracks in Asia. This was supported by MRF Ltd in its entirety and was a unique concept of "Arrive and Drive" which meant that the drivers would not have the hassle of making all arrangements. Raj Bharath
Raj Bharath Swaminathan (born 20 November 1994) is an Indian professional race car driver who raced in the Formula 2000 MRF Challenge 2014. Career Raj started his motorsport career with karting in 2008, winning the ‘Most promising rookie of the year’ trophy in his debut year, in the National Karting Championship. After winning the Rotax Max Karting National Champion title in 2010, he progressed to the JK Racing Asia Series in 2011, followed by the Formula Pilota China in 2012 and the Formula Masters China in 2013, where he achieved a single win. He won the Young Star Driver program from Mercedes-Benz India in 2014. In 2012, Bharath became a part of the Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy. Madras Motor Sports Club is an Indian auto racing club founded in 1952 and based in Chennai, India. Bahrain International Circuit
The Bahrain International Circuit ( ar, حلبة البحرين الدولية, Ḥalba al-Baḥrayn ad-Dawliyya) is a motorsport venue opened in 2004 and used for drag racing, GP2 Series (now FIA Formula 2), and the annual Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix. The 2004 Grand Prix was the first held in the Middle East. Beginning in 2006, Australian V8 Supercars raced at the BIC, with the event known as the Desert 400.
