2013–14 FC Basel Season
The 2013–14 season was the 121st in the history of FC Basel. Basel were the reigning champions of the Swiss Super League, having won the title in each of the previous four seasons. Playing their home matches at St. Jakob-Park, Basel lost only two matches in the league, at home to FC Zürich in Round 5 and away to BSC Young Boys, Young Boys Bern in Round 34. Despite a high percentage of drawn matches, they finished seven points clear of Grasshopper Club Zürich to win their fifth successive title. Basel reached the final of the 2013–14 Swiss Cup but lost 2–0 to FC Zürich. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss professional Association football, football club based in Basel, in the Basel-Stadt, Canton of Basel-Stadt. The Super League (also known as the Credit Suisse Super League for sponsorship reasons) is a professional association football league in Switzerland and the highest level of the Swiss football league system. It has been played in its current format since the 2003–04 season. Adrian Knup
Adrian Knup (born 2 July 1968) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a striker in the 1980s and 1990s. He was capped 49 times and scored 26 goals for the Switzerland national team between 1989 and 1996, including three games at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. From 2009 to 2017 he worked as the head coach of the youth sector at FC Basel. He was also the vice president of the club between 2012 and 2017. Bernhard Heusler
Bernhard Heusler (born 27 December 1963) is a Swiss businessman, lawyer and former president of the football club FC Basel. Life Heusler studied law at the University of Basel. He was a research assistant to René Rhinow and was awarded his doctorate in law in Basel. In 1994, he completed a post-graduate course at the University of California, Davis and worked for the New York law firm ''Davis Polk & Wardwell''. After that, he worked at the law firm ''Wenger Plattner'' in Basel, where he was a partner from 2000 to 2014. He then worked as a consultant at the law firm ''Walder Wyss'' in Basel until 2017. Alexander Frei
Alexander Frei or Alex Frei (born 15 July 1979) is a Swiss professional football coach and a former player who played as a forward. He was most recently head coach of FC Aarau in the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of Swiss football. Frei began his career at Basel, going on to various other clubs in Switzerland, France and Germany before returning to his home club, where he won the Swiss Super League title in all four of his seasons, including doubles with the Swiss Cup in 2010 and 2012. The 2013–14 UEFA Europa League was the 43rd season of Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the fifth season under its current title.
