2013–14 Bavarian Cup
The 2013–14 Bavarian Cup (''German: Bayerischer Toto-Pokal 2013–14'') was the seventeenth edition of this competition, first held in 1998 and organised by the Bavarian Football Association (''BFV''). The winner, Würzburger Kickers of the Regionalliga Bayern, was qualified for the first round of the 2014–15 DFB-Pokal, the German Cup. Würzburg went on to defeat 2. Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf in the first round and advance to the second. The competition was open to all senior men's football teams playing within the Bavarian football league system and the 3. Liga. History The Bavarian Cup, officially referred to as the ''Bayerischer Toto-Pokal'' for sponsorship reasons was established in 1998. Until 2009 it was contested by only eight clubs, qualified through the seven annual regional cup competitions. Since 2009 the Bavarian Cup has been expanded to include 64 teams in the first round. Würzburger Kickers
Würzburger Kickers is a German association football club playing in Würzburg, Bavaria. In pre-World War II football, the club competed briefly at the highest level in the Bezirksliga Bayern, and during the war, in the Gauliga Bayern. Post-war, it made a single appearance in professional football in the southern division of the 2. Bundesliga in 1977–78. After a long stint in amateur football, dropping as low as the seventh tier, the club began a recovery. SV Wacker Burghausen is a German football club based in Burghausen, Bavaria and is part of one of the nation's largest sports clubs with some 6,000 members participating in two dozen different sports. History The club was founded on 13 November 1930 and was made up largely of employees from the local chemical factory Wacker Chemie, which was established in 1914, and still sponsors the club today. TSV Großbardorf
TSV Großbardorf is a German association football club from the city of Großbardorf, Bavaria. The footballers are part of a 602 member sports club that also has departments for bowling and table tennis. History The club made its first appearance in the Landesliga Bayern-Nord (V) in 1993 where they became a competitive side after the turn of the millennium. TSV Kleinrinderfeld
The TSV Kleinrinderfeld is a German association football club from the town of Kleinrinderfeld, Bavaria. The club's greatest success came in 2012 when it qualified for the new northern division of the expanded Bayernliga, the fifth tier of the German football league system but it lasted for only one season at this level before being relegated again. History For most of its history the club has been a non-descript amateur side in local Bavarian football. The club was formed as ATSV Kleinrinderfeld in 1923 as a working men's sports club. FV Illertissen is a German association football club from the town of Illertissen, Bavaria and was established in 1921. Despite its location in Bavaria the club had never played in the league system of its home state but instead preferred to play in neighbouring Baden-Württemberg. Penalty Shoot Out
The penalty shootout is a method of determining a winner in sports matches that would have otherwise been drawn or tied. The rules for penalty shootouts vary between sports and even different competitions; however, the usual form is similar to penalty shots in that a single player takes one shot on goal from a specified spot, the only defender being the goalkeeper. If the result is still tied, the shootout usually continues on a "goal-for-goal" basis, with the teams taking shots alternately, and the one that scores a goal unmatched by the other team is declared the winner.
