2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2013 IIHF World U20 Championship (commonly known as the 2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships) was the 37th edition of the IIHF World U20 Championship, Ice Hockey World Junior Championship (WJC). It was hosted in Ufa, Russia. It began on December 26, 2012, and ended with the gold medal game played on January 5, 2013. The United States men's national junior ice hockey team, United States defeated defending-champion Sweden men's national junior ice hockey team, Sweden 3–1 to win their third title, their first one since 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, 2010. Ufa Arena
The Ufa Arena is an 8,522-seat multi-purpose arena in Ufa, Russia that opened in 2007. It was built on the site of the Trud Stadium (Ufa), which was demolished in 2005. The Ufa Arena replaced Ice Palace Salavat Yulaev as the home of Kontinental Hockey League ice hockey team, Salavat Yulaev Ufa. The first events in the arena were the first two games of the 2007 Super Series, a hockey series between Canada and Russia juniors. Markus Granlund
Kari Markus Granlund (born 16 April 1993) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with Genève-Servette HC of the National League (NL). After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, he elected to leave the KHL team Salavat Yulaev Ufa. He is a second-round selection of the Calgary Flames, taken 45th overall at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Granlund played two seasons in the SM-liiga for HIFK before moving to North America to join the Flames organization in 2013. His older brother Mikael plays in the NHL for the Dallas Stars. Joel Armia
Joel Armia (; born 31 May 1993) is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round, 16th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2011 NHL entry draft. Armia has also previously played professionally for Porin Ässät of the SM-liiga as well as the Winnipeg Jets. Miro Aaltonen (born 7 June 1993) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward for SC Bern of the National League (NL). Ville Pokka (born 3 June 1994) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman, who is currently a free agent. Playing career Pokka played with Kärpät in the SM-Liiga during the 2010–11 season. He was drafted 23rd overall by Avangard Omsk in the 2012 KHL Junior Draft and 34th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Artturi Aleksanteri Lehkonen (born 4 July 1995) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the second round, 55th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL entry draft, where he spent the first six seasons of his NHL career. Elvis Merzļikins (; born 13 April 1994) is a Latvian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Merzļikins spent several years playing hockey in Switzerland for HC Lugano, and was awarded the Jacques Plante Trophy as best goaltender in the National League in both 2016 and 2018.
