2013 WAFF Championship
The 2013 West Asian Football Federation Championship (marketed as Qatar 2013) was the 8th WAFF Championship, an international tournament for member nations of the West Asian Football Federation. The tournament was hosted by Qatar from 25 December 2013 to 7 January 2014 and the host country won the tournament for the first time. The 2012 champions, Syria national football team, Syria, did not defend their title. Venues It was announced in October 2013 that three venues would be used, one in Al Rayyan (city), Al Rayyan and two in the capital Doha. On 4 December, it was announced that the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium, Suheim bin Hamad Stadium (in Doha) would not feature in the tournament anymore. Participating teams and Draw The draw took place on 11 November 2013 in Doha, Qatar. The nine teams were drawn into three groups based on team rankings. Boualem Khoukhi
Boualem Khoukhi (; born 9 July 1990) is a professional association football, footballer who plays as a Defender (association football), centre-back for Al-Sadd SC, Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League. Born in Algeria, he represented the Qatar national football team, Qatar national team. Club career Youth career A pure product of the junior ranks of Algeria's JSM Chéraga, Khoukhi made his debut for the senior team in the 2009–10 season. He struggled in his first season, but his career was soon revived when Farid Zemiti was hired as the head coach of the club. 2008 WAFF Championship
The 2008 WAFF Championship was the fifth West Asian Football Federation Championship, an international tournament for West Asian countries and territories. It was hosted by Iran. Teams 4 members from 6 members of WAFF participated in this tournament. Oman and Qatar, which were not members of WAFF, also participated as guests. Note: * Were invited as guests but withdrew after being told that they could not play with their Olympic team. * Withdrew from the tournament on 26 June 2008 due to the team being disbanded. * the initial hosts of this tournament, would not participate in this edition. Abdullah Al Hilali
Abdullah Al Hilali (born January 1, 1970) is an Omani association football referee for FIFA, and the Asian Football Confederation. He has performed at many international football competitions since 2002 including the 2008 Summer Olympics, the AFC Champions League 2009 and the World Cup 2010 qualifiers.
