Swedish Football Division 2
Division 2 is the fourth level in the league system of Swedish football and comprises 84 Swedish football teams. Division 2 had status as the official second level from 1928 to 1986 but was replaced by Division 1 in 1987. It then had status as the official third level until 2005 but was replaced once again by the recreated Division 1 in 2006. Overview In the Division, there are 84 clubs which are divided in six groups of 14 teams each representing a geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 26 games. Mariehem SK (Mariehem sportklubb, MSK) is a Swedish football team from Mariehem in Umeå currently playing in Division 2 Norrland after finishing 8th in 2009. Background Mariehem SK was formed in 1974 and currently has 28 teams including junior teams (13 women's and girl's teams and 15 men's and boys teams). Kvarnsvedens IK is a Swedish football club located in Borlänge in Dalarna County. Background Football was first played in 1907 under the name Kvarnsvedens GOIF and this continued until 1935 when operations were shut down for financial reasons. A new club was started in 1936 called Övermora IS and from 1941 matches were played at Kvarnsvedens IP. The same year the name of the club was changed to Kvarnsvedens BK. However by 1946 the club had closed for financial reasons. On 25 July 1962 BTK Verdandi application for membership of the Swedish Football Association was approved along with participation in the league system.
