2013 Southern Conference Football Season
The 2013 Southern Conference football season, part of the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season competition of college football, began on Thursday, August 29, 2013 with Chattanooga hosting Tennessee–Martin. The regular season concluded on November 23, while Samford and Furman qualified for the NCAA Division I Football Championship. Samford was eliminated in the first round by Jacksonville State. Furman defeated South Carolina State in the opening round, but fell to eventual champion North Dakota State 38–7 in the second round. Appalachian State and Georgia Southern played their final seasons as members of the Southern Conference but were ineligible to win the conference championship or participate in the playoffs as they transitioned to the Football Bowl Subdivision. Jeff Monken
Jeffrey Michael Monken (born April 15, 1967) is an American football coach. He is currently the head football coach at the United States Military Academy, a position he has held since the 2014 season. Monken previously served as the head football coach of Georgia Southern University from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, he worked under Paul Johnson (American football coach), Paul Johnson as a running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Georgia Southern, the United States Naval Academy, and Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech. The 2013 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Yellow Jackets were led by sixth year head coach Paul Johnson and played their home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium. They were members of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Georgia Dome
The Georgia Dome was a domed stadium in the Southeastern United States. Located in Atlanta between downtown to the east and Vine City to the west, it was owned and operated by the State of Georgia as part of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. 2013 Georgia State Panthers Football Team
The 2013 Georgia State Panthers football team represented Georgia State University (GSU) in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Panthers were led by first year head coach Trent Miles and played their home games at the Georgia Dome. The 2013 season was the Panthers' first in the Sun Belt Conference and at the FBS level. Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium is a stadium in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders.
