The 2013 Southern Conference football season, part of the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season competition of college football, began on Thursday, August 29, 2013 with Chattanooga hosting Tennessee–Martin. The regular season concluded on November 23, while 2013 Samford Bulldogs football team, Samford and 2013 Furman Paladins football team, Furman qualified for the NCAA Division I Football Championship. Samford was eliminated in the first round by 2012 Jacksonville State Gamecocks football team, Jacksonville State. Furman defeated 2013 South Carolina State Bulldogs football team, South Carolina State in the opening round, but fell to eventual champion 2013 North Dakota State Bison football team, North Dakota State 38–7 in the second round. Jeffrey Michael Monken (born April 15, 1967) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at the Army Black Knights football, United States Military Academy, a position he has held since 2014. Monken previously served as the head football coach of Georgia Southern University from 2010 to 2013. The 2013 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Georgia Dome was a Stadium#Types, domed stadium in the Southeastern United States. The 2013 Georgia State Panthers football team represented Georgia State University (GSU) in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
