2013 Qatar Total Open – Singles
Defending champion Victoria Azarenka defeated Serena Williams in the final, 7–6(8–6), 2–6, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2013 WTA Qatar Open. All of the top three seeds (Azarenka, Williams and Maria Sharapova) were in contention for the world No. 1 ranking at the start of the tournament. Williams regained the World No. 1 ranking for the first time since October 2010, becoming the oldest No. 1 player in the history of the WTA, after she beat Petra Kvitová in the quarterfinals. Victoria Azarenka
Victoria Fiodaraŭna Azarenka (born 31 July 1989) is a Belarusian professional tennis player. She has been ranked as the world No. 1 in women's singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), having held the position for a total of 51 weeks (including as the year-end No. 1 in 2012). Azarenka has won 21 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including two majors at the 2012 and 2013 Australian Opens, becoming the first Belarusian to win a major singles title. Maria Yuryevna Kirilenko ( rus, Мари́я Ю́рьевна Кириле́нко, p=mɐˈrʲijə kʲɪrʲɪˈlʲenkə, a=Ru-Maria_Kirilenko.ogg; born 25 January 1987) is a Russian former professional tennis player. Daniela Hantuchová (; born 23 April 1983) is a Slovak tennis commentator and retired player. She turned professional in 1999 and had her breakthrough year in 2002, when she won her first WTA Tour title at the Indian Wells Open, defeating Martina Hingis in the final and becoming the lowest-ranked player to ever win the tournament. Laura Robson (born 21 January 1994) is a British former professional tennis player. Ekaterina Andreevna Bychkova (; born 5 June 1985) is a Russian former professional tennis player. In her career, Bychkova won ten singles and five doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. Eleni Daniilidou (; ; born 19 September 1982) is a Greek former tennis player from the island of Crete. She is considered one of the best Greek tennis players of the Open Era, winning five singles titles and three doubles titles on the WTA Tour. In 2003, she reached the mixed-doubles final of the Australian Open, making her the first Greek player to have reached a Grand Slam final.
