The 2013 New Zealand Open (badminton), New Zealand Open Grand Prix was the fourth grand prix gold and grand prix tournament of the 2013 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix. The tournament was held in North Shore Events Centre, Auckland, New Zealand April 10 until April 14, 2013 and had a total purse of $50,000. The BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix was a series of badminton tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF) which was run from 2007 to 2017. Features Prize money A Grand Prix Gold tournament offered minimum prize money of United States dollar, US$120,000, while a Grand Prix tournament offered minimum prize money of US$50,000. The formula of prize money distribution was identical to BWF Super Series#Prize money, Super Series tournament. Brock Matheson (born May 28, 1987) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Born in Gananoque, Ontario, Matheson played junior hockey in Ottawa with the Kanata Stallions. Xue Song (; born 22 January 1994) is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in men's singles. Career In 2002, Xue was sent to train at the badminton school in Jiangsu, and at age 13, he won the national junior title in the singles and doubles events. At the age of 15, he trained in Hong Kong for two years, then he joined the badminton club in Guangdong. In 2011, he was selected to join the national team. Lee Dong-keun (; or ; born 20 November 1990) is a Korean badminton player specializing in men's singles. He won his first international senior title at the 2011 Vietnam International tournament. Park started playing badminton in 1999, and as a junior player he was the runner-up of the 2007 German Junior International tournament.
