2013 Marikina Local Elections
Local elections were held in Marikina on May 13, 2013 as part of the general election. The voters elected one mayor, one vice mayor, two congressional representatives, and sixteen councilors, eight per district. Background Mayor Del De Guzman was on his first term, and he ran for re-election for second term. He was challenged by independent candidates Felipe Evangelista and Rizal Tenorio. Romero Federico Saenz "Miro" Quimbo (born December 12, 1969) is a Filipino politician who is the representative-elect for Marikina's second district, a seat he previously held from 2010 to 2019. A graduate of University of the Philippines Diliman, Quimbo began his legal career as a partner of the Poblador Bautista & Reyes law firm, during which he participated in the impeachment of Joseph Estrada. He became the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pag-IBIG Fund in 2002 and served until 2010, when he resigned to run for a seat in the House of Representatives. Xyza R. Diazen-Santos (born May 3, 1986) is a Filipino politician and teacher who served as a member of the Marikina City Council for Marikina's second district from 2010 to 2019. Early life Diazen was born on May 3, 1986, in Marikina. She is the daughter of Rogelio and Evelyn Diazen. After graduating from Parang High School, Diazen was elected as one of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilors of Marikina in the 2002 elections. Arvin Impuesto Jimenez (March 24, 1974 – February 7, 2014), known mononymously as Tado, was a Filipino comedian, actor, radio personality, businessman, published author and activist. His nickname "Tado" comes from a Tagalog language, Tagalog expletive (''tarantado'') that he frequently blurts out. Tado was primarily known for the offbeat television program ''Strangebrew'' and the DWFM, U92 radio program ''The BrewRATs!''. Marikina's 2nd congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the city of Marikina. The district covers the seven northern Marikina barangays of Concepcion Uno, Concepcion Dos, Fortune, Marikina Heights, Parang, Nangka, and Tumana. The district has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2007. An amendment to the 1996 Marikina City Charter, passed in 2006, created the district from Marikina's at-large congressional district. Marcelino Teodoro
Marcelino "Marcy" Reyes Teodoro (born August 2, 1970) is a Filipino politician and former publisher who is the representative-elect for Marikina's first district. He previously held the seat from 2007 to 2016 and has served as the mayor of Marikina since 2016. Born in Santa Elena, Marikina, Teodoro graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy at the University of the Philippines Diliman and pursued graduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. Teodoro entered politics in 1992 after being elected to the Marikina City Council. He was subsequently elected to the Philippine House of Representatives in 2007, serving three terms and ending his tenure in 2016 upon being term-limited. Jose Fabian Imperial Cadiz, (January 11, 1961 – February 20, 2022) was a Filipino politician and physician who served as the vice mayor of Marikina from 2010 to 2019, under the mayoralties of Del de Guzman and Marcelino Teodoro. Before his vice mayoralty, he served as a member of the Marikina City Council. Early life and education Cadiz was born on January 11, 1961, in Naga, Camarines Sur. He attended the Naga Parochial School and later entered the Philippine Science High School for his secondary education. After finishing high school, Cadiz went on to attend the University of the Philippines, where he gained a bachelor's degree in biology. In pursuit of a career in medicine, he later joined the Medicine and Surgery Program at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center.
