2013 Korean Tour
The 2013 Korean Tour was the third season of the Korean Tour to carry Official World Golf Ranking points. The season consisted of 14 events, five of which were co-sanctioned by other tours. All the tournament had prize funds of at least 300 million won (approximately US$270,000). Four had prize funds of 1 billion won (US$900,000) while the Ballantine's Championship The Ballantine's Championship (known as The Championship at Laguna National in its final year) was a European Tour golf tournament which was played from 2008 to 2014. Kang Sung-hoon (golfer)
Kang Sung-hoon ( ko, 강성훈; born 4 June 1987), also known as Sung Kang, is a South Korean professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He won the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson, his first win on the PGA Tour. Amateur career In April 2006 Kang won the SBS Lotte Skyhill Open, the opening event of the Korean Tour season. Later in the month he played in the 2006 Bonallack Trophy in New Zealand, representing Asia/Pacific against Europe. In October he represented South Korea in the 2006 Eisenhower Trophy in South Africa. The team finished 5th while Kang had the 6th best individual score. He was also the gold medalist at the 2006 Asian Games, which exempted him from mandatory military service. Professional career Kang turned professional in 2007 and joined the Korean Tour. 2013 OneAsia Tour
The OneAsia Tour was a men's professional golf tour based in the Asia-Pacific region. The tour was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between the PGA Tour of Australasia, the China Golf Association, the Korean Golf Association and the Korean PGA. The Japan Golf Tour was invited to participate in the project in 2012 and has co-sanctioned the Indonesia Open, Indonesia PGA Championship and Thailand Open. OneAsia was seen as a rival to the longer established Asian Tour, with which it had poor relations. From 2010 to 2017, the OneAsia Tour had world ranking status in its own right. Having had a ten tournament schedule in each of its first few seasons, OneAsia's fortunes began to decline. Being reliant on co-sanctioning arrangements to fill out the calendar – only one event was not co-sanctioned in 2013 and 2014 – tour members were afforded a limited number of places in the tournaments. Dongbu Insurance Promy Open
The DB Insurance Promy Open is a professional golf tournament that takes place in South Korea sponsored by DB Insurance. Until 2017 it was called the Dongbu Insurance Promy Open. It has been held at Montvert Country Club from 2015 to 2019. Since 2014 it has been the opening event of the season, held in April. In 2010 and 2011 the event had prize money of ₩300,000,000, rising to ₩400,000,000 in 2012 and ₩500,000,000 in 2016. The event was cancelled in 2020 but returned in 2021 with prize money of ₩700,000,000 and a new venue, Oak Valley Country Club. In 2008 and 2009 Dongbu Insurance sponsored a match play event, the SBS Dongbu Insurance Matchplay Championship, the forerunner of the Munsingwear Championship which started in 2010. Dongchon KPGA Championship
The KPGA Championship is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. Together with the Korea Open it is the longest running event on the Korean Tour. It is organised by the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA). Since 2016 the total purse has been KRW1,000,000,000 with KRW200,000,000 to the winner. Kim Tae-hoon (golfer)
Kim Tae-hoon ( ko, 김태훈; born 15 September 1985) is a South Korean professional golfer who plays on the Korean Tour. He has won four times on the tour, including the 2020 Genesis Championship. Professional career Kim turned professional in 2005 and made his debut on the Korean Tour in 2007. However, he had little success until 2013 when he won the Bosung CC Classic and had 8 top-10 finishes in the 11 events he played in. He finished third in the points-based Order of Merit and fourth in the prize money list. He had less success in 2014 but was twice runner-up, in the Happiness Songhak Construction Open and the KJ Choi Invitational, and finished 16th in the money list. Lee Soo-min ( ko, 이수민; born 12 October 1993) is a South Korean professional golfer. Lee won the 2013 Gunsan CC Open on the Korean Tour while still an amateur. He turned professional in 2014 and began playing regularly on the Korean Tour, winning the Gunsan CC Open again in 2015. He earned a 2015 Asian Tour card through qualifying school; as a rookie, he recorded two top-three finishes and placed 29th on the Order of Merit. In February 2016 Lee was joint runner-up in the Maybank Championship Malaysia, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour. In April he won the European Tour's Shenzhen International on a sponsor exemption, giving him full European Tour membership.
