Football is by far the most popular sport in Paraguay. Paraguay's national team has played at eight FIFA World Cup competitions and has won two Copa América tournaments. Olimpia Asunción is the country's most successful club in domestic and international competitions. Paraguay's football leagues are divided into four divisions. In 2020, Paraguay's top-tier was ranked 8th in the world by the IFFHS. History Football arrived to Paraguay in the late 1800s. There are differing versions as to how this happened. Cristian Miguel Riveros Núñez (born 16 October 1982) is a Paraguayan professional footballer who plays for Libertad as a defensive midfielder. A full international for Paraguay since 2005, he has earned 99 caps for his country, playing at two FIFA World Cup competitions ( 2006 and 2010) and three Copa América tournaments (2007, 2011 and 2015). Wilmar Roldán
Wilmar Alexander Roldán Pérez (; born 24 January 1980 in Remedios, Antioquia) is a Colombian football referee. He was ranked the World's 7th Best Referee of 2015 by the IFFHS. He has been a referee in the domestic league since 2003 and became a FIFA International in 2008. He was selected for his maiden Copa América tournament in 2011, where he officiated in two group matches and the third-place match between Venezuela and Peru.
